As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the UNIC Medical School’s Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society organised an awareness event on Thursday, 22 October 2026, at UNIC Main Campus, engaging approximately 100 students.
Through interactive quizzes, educational discussions and practical breast self-examination demonstrations using mannequins, medical student volunteers raised awareness of breast cancer risk factors, warning signs and the importance of early detection.
💬 Vanina Veeraragoo, President of the Society, said: “Through education and open conversations, we worked to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions, and encourage people to take an active role in their breast health.”
The initiative was organised by Vanina Veeraragoo, Nour Abdelaziz and Anannya Chaudhry, with the support of student volunteers Athina Batzanopoulou, Magdalena Krygier, Elodie Huntjens and Maram Tarbouch, and the Society’s Faculty Adviser, Dr Dionysios Vaidakis, Clinical Associate Professor at UNIC Medical School.
The event provided students with an opportunity to apply their medical knowledge, develop their communication skills and contribute to raising health awareness within the university community.
