Changing focus for a moment. Literally. ☀️📸

Take a look at how YSpace team members watched yesterday’s eclipse, and how they captured it across Europe.

Different places, different setups, one shared obsession with space.

One complete KOSTKA pass over our ground station, compressed into just a few seconds. 🛰️

As the satellite rises above the horizon, our antenna tracks it across the sky while we exchange data with KOSTKA, receiving live telemetry from orbit and sending commands from the ground.

The communication window lasts only a few minutes. Then KOSTKA disappears below the horizon and continues on its next orbit around Earth.

Swipe through to see KOSTKA’s journey so far.

In the last 14 days, KOSTKA has completed more than 200 orbits, travelled over 9 million kilometres, and has been continuously sending data.

Swipe through to explore KOSTKA’s first 14 days in orbit, from the first signal received on Earth to the numbers from the mission so far.

KOSTKA made it to orbit... and across Czech television. 🛰️📺

Years of student work, one launch, and a story shared across the country.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring KOSTKA to the public.

One huge thank you. 🛰️

To everyone who made the time, changed their plans, left work for a moment, and came to watch KOSTKA launch with us, THANK YOU.

Watching the launch of the first Czech student-built satellite with so many people around us made the whole day feel even more unreal.

A huge thank you goes to JSME perFEKTní fakulta. for being YSpace’s home, for the support, facilities, and for the ground station from which we continue to follow KOSTKA on orbit.

Thank you to Vysoké učení technické v Brně for helping us make sure KOSTKA did not remain “just” a student project hidden in a lab, but became a story shared far beyond our team.

And thank you to everyone who believed in us, supported us, opened doors for us, and showed up for KOSTKA, including the Rector of BUT (Ladislav Janíček), whose presence meant so much for the whole team.

And most of all, thank you to every YSpace member who spent the last days and nights at school, preparing, monitoring, communicating, solving, waiting, and making sure KOSTKA had everything she needed.

This was not just a watch party.

It was the moment when a student project became a real mission in orbit. ❤️🛰️

On-orbit operations have begun. 🛰️
Since the first contact with KOSTKA, the team has barely left the ground station at JSME perFEKTní fakulta..

KOSTKA circles the Earth roughly every 95 minutes – about 15 times a day. It comes within range of our ground station only 2 to 4 times a day, for a few minutes each time. Every single pass counts.
During each one, we are tuning our tracking data, checking the status of every subsystem, and monitoring the satellite's health. 📡

This is the work that comes after years of design, testing, integration, and countless late nights. It doesn't look like a launch, but this is where the mission truly begins. 🚀
Now the mission continues…

KOSTKA IS ALIVE!

After a successful launch and deployment, we received the first contact with KOSTKA at our ground station at JSME perFEKTní fakulta.!!! 🛰️

The first signal was logged at 11:56:43 CEST, shortly after KOSTKA passed a previous SatNOGS ground station.

And it was not just a signal.

We have successfully decoded all beacon types, confirming that KOSTKA is transmitting and that the first steps of our on-orbit operations have begun.

This is the moment we have been looking forward to since the establishment of YSpace in 2023. A moment when years of work, testing, integration, problem-solving, and team effort turned into something very real.

KOSTKA has launched.
KOSTKA has been deployed.
KOSTKA is alive.

Now the mission continues…
