Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové started its educational activities on November 25, 1945 as the first university faculty in East Bohemia. Initially, the Hradec Králové faculty was established as a part of the Prague Faculty of Medicine. Due to their co-operation and assistance it was immediately possible to establish both a high quality teaching staff and an effective departmental structure in Hradec Králové. The basic pillars of the faculty are: Education,
Science and research, Foreign relations. The Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Hradec Králové provides education for future holders of bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in the medical sciences.

🎓 On 14 and 15 July 2026, graduation ceremonies for graduates of the Master's Degree Programmes in General Medicine and Dentistry were held in the historic Carolinum. 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓✨

A total of 165 graduates received their diplomas, successfully completing their studies and becoming new medical doctors and dentists. 🩺🦷

We warmly congratulate all graduates on this significant milestone and wish them every success in their professional and personal lives! 🍀👏

Representatives of our Faculty – Dean prof. Jiří Manďák, Vice Deans prof. Jiří Petera and prof. Emil Rudolf together with prof. Jan Harrer, and doc. Ivan Vařeka – visited the College of Health Sciences at Addis Ababa University, our partner institution for the past eight years. 🤝

During the visit, they learned more about the Ethiopian healthcare system, visited Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital 🏥 and discussed future cooperation.

🌍On 15–16 June 2026, our faculty, together with the Univerzita Hradec Králové , hosted an international meeting of the MISS4Health Project project partners, an Erasmus+ project focused on developing soft skills for healthcare professionals and medical students. 🧑‍⚕️

During the two-day meeting, project partners reviewed the progress achieved so far, finalized educational modules, further developed interactive case-based scenarios reflecting real-life healthcare situations, and planned the pilot testing of the learning materials. The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange expertise and strengthen international collaboration. 🤝

Funded by the Erasmus+ programme, the MISS4Health Project project supports the development of communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills through digital learning, scenario-based education, and a micro-credential system.

☀️ Summer Opening Hours – Medical Library & Study Rooms

This year's summer opening hours will be different due to the Medical Library's move to the new campus. 📚 The Medical Library will be open from 29 June to 10 July, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

❗️From 13 July, the library at its current location in the Na Hradě Building will be permanently closed.

During the closure, you can return your books using the return box on the ground floor of the Na Hradě Building (weekdays 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) until the building is completely closed.

📖 The Education Centre (EC) study room will remain open throughout the summer:
• Mon–Fri: 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
• Sat–Sun: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

🎓 The Student Affairs Office will remain open during the summer. However, please arrange your visit by email in advance.

🦷 Researchers from the Department of Dentistry at our faculty and Fakultní nemocnice Hradec Králové in collaboration with Contipro are developing new medicinal products as part of the DentHya project to help treat a range of oral diseases. 🧑‍🔬

How does the research work, why does hyaluronic acid play such an important role, and what specific challenges are these new products designed to address? We spoke with Professor Jakub Suchánek, the head of the research team, about the project and its goals.

👨‍⚕️ 🎙️Forensic pathologist, scientist and the elected candidate for Dean of the CU MED HK for the 2026–2030 term.

Charles University Gold Commemorative Medal for our Dean🏅
At yesterday’s meeting of the Scientific Council of Charles University, our faculty dean, Prof. Jiří Manďák, received the Charles University Gold Commemorative Medal for his exceptional contributions to the development of the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové and for promoting its reputation worldwide. Rector Jiří Zima praised his many years of work at the Department of Surgery and in the faculty’s leadership.
