🇨🇿 ❗Změna kódů dlouhodobých víz a dlouhodobých pobytů

⚠️Od 1. 6. 2026 dochází k rozšíření číselných kódů, označujících účel pobytového oprávnění. Změna se týká zejména zaměstnaneckých karet, dlouhodobých víz a pobytů za účelem studia, a také dlouhodobých víz a pobytů za účelem dalších vzdělávacích aktivit.

👉Biometrické průkazy povolení k pobytu vydané po 1. 6. 2026 už budou obsahovat nové kódy. Dosavadní kódy zůstávají v platnosti, stejně tak i průkazy a vízové štítky vydané před 1. 6. 2026. Žádat o jejich výměnu není možné.

🇬🇧 ❗Change in Long-term Visa and Long-term Residence Permit Codes

⚠️From June 1, 2026, the numerical codes indicating the purpose of a residence permit will be expanded. This change primarily affects employee cards, long-term visas and long-term residence permits for the purpose of studies, as well as long-term visas and long-term residence permits for the purpose of other educational activities.

👉Biometric residence permit cards issued after June 1, 2026, will already contain the new codes. The codes used on residence permits and visas issued before June 1, 2026, remain valid. It is not possible to request a replacement of these documents.

---Workshop: Alliance of European Universities---

The Head of the International Office TUL and the RUN-EU Office TUL are taking part in the European Universities Alliances Workshop, organised by CZELO and Dům zahraniční spolupráce - DZS and hosted by the Západočeská univerzita v Plzni

💡The programme focuses on key topics shaping European university alliances – from governance and funding to the future of the European Degree and international cooperation.

🤝The workshop is followed by a networking meeting of Heads of International Relations Offices from public universities, focusing on experience-sharing and strengthening collaboration.

🌍 TUL is expanding its global research network! 🇺🇸

Earlier this month, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering⚙️ at TUL signed a new strategic partnership with the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell ). The collaboration will focus on advanced technologies, nanotechnology, energy systems, smart materials, and engineering research.

The partnership will also support joint projects, researcher and student exchanges, and shared laboratory facilities - with the potential to involve other TUL faculties and the CXI Institute as well. 🚀

🌼8 May: Victory Day = Public holiday
🌼7 May: Rector´s Day = Day off

Many decades have passed since the end of World War II on the European continent, after all, N**i Germany capitulated on 8 May 1945. But the War influenced the history of the world and the lives of people as no other war that had ever happened in the Czech lands before. And so, its end is one of the Czech public holidays and it is commemorated every year with celebrations and military parades at various places throughout the country. The most famous is the Freedom Festival in Plzeň.

👩‍🏫Dr. Priscila Falagan Lotsch from Auburn University (USA) at TUL – Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility

Title: Deciphering the Nano-Bio Interface: Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of Nanoparticle Toxicity

🟣Priscila presented her research on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for biomedical applications. Her findings show that low-dose, chronic exposure to PEGylated AuNPs may cause long-lasting changes in mitochondrial respiration, even without clear cytotoxicity. This highlights mitochondria as sensitive targets of nanomaterial-induced stress and underlines the importance of including chronic exposure and post-exposure recovery in safety assessments for future nanotherapeutics.

🟣The lecture brought together students from Risks of Nanomaterials, doctoral students in Nanomaterials and Micromaterials and Environmental Engineering, as well as colleagues from CXI.

🇹🇭 A semester in Thailand? Why not 😉

While pursuing her PhD at the Department of Power Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, TUL, Eliška traveled to Kasetsart University thanks to the faculty’s Mobility Fund- and alongside her research, she’s discovering a completely different pace of life. A new environment, new experiences, and inspiration that don’t come along every day.
