It was my honor and pleasure to represent our department once again on my latest visit to Carpathian University in Ivano-Frankivsk Ukraine and am full of fresh impressions. I brought one of our master's degree students, Ian Zwaschka originally from Iowa, with me this time. Among many other things, we organized two workshops for the students, his on improvisation, mine on singing. We had a 'talent show' with our groups and five minutes into the program, the shelling alarms went off. As we were filing out of the room, the organizers came up with the idea of moving to the dining hall in the basement, where we finished up the show. It was quite moving in the end, see the picture below. Ian's group did several improv performances while my group sang several songs including We Shall Overcome, Blowin' in the Wind and This Land Is your Land with new Ukrainian lyrics:
This land is your land, this land is my land
From Ivano-Frankivsk to Crimea Island
From the Carpathian Mountains to the Black Sea Waters
This land was made for you and me.
If anyone would like to get involved with my Ukraine projects, let me know. Glory to Ukraine.
