We'd like to invite you to a special guest lecture by Dr. Denisa Krásná (MUNI, Faculty of Arts) on Wednesday, 15 April. Dr. Krásná will provide a critical introduction to Canadian Studies, examining the tensions between the state's discourse on reconciliation and the ongoing settler colonialism. Key themes will include multiculturalism, migration, and national identity.

🎓 2026 Student Conference Throwback ✨
Thank you to everyone who joined our annual student conference at the Department of English and American Studies, whether you presented your paper or came to support your peers. 👏🏼 We enjoyed listening to your presentations and learning more about your research and interests.

✨ We'd also like to thank the students from Jazykové gymnázium Pavla Tigrida and Wichterlovo gymnázium for their enthusiasm and interest in participating!

A huge thank you to the organisational team at KAA, Lenka Kopečková, Petra Trávníková, and Linda Šubertová, for making this conference possible and to our Student Union for preparing refreshments and sweets for us to enjoy. 🍪

📢 CALL FOR PAPERS - 2026 STUDENT CONFERENCE 📢

We are excited to invite you to our annual Student Conference on Monday, 30 March, from 9 AM to 2 PM in room XH510 at Havlíčkovo nábřeží.

✨ Come support your fellow students as they present their work, get inspired, and enjoy some refreshments during the breaks. Your presence and encouragement mean a lot to them!

📝 If you would also like to present, you are very welcome to do so. You can present your own short paper, e.g. a topic of interest, or part of your BA/diploma thesis. The presentation should be 10–15 minutes long and include a short PowerPoint (or similar) presentation. The deadline is March 22.

🌍 KAA Students Abroad, pt. 2: Jaén (Spain, NEOLAiA I European Universities Alliance & NEOLAiA OU) and Łódź (Poland) 🌍

Our MA student, Linda Šafranová, has taken part in two international experiences so far. A few years ago, she participated in an Erasmus+ exchange at our NEOLAiA partner university Universidad de Jaén, where our student Bohdan Tkachenko is currently staying. She enjoyed exploring Andalusian culture, hiking with ESN, and meeting people from all over the world.

🇵🇱 Now, Linda is continuing her journey abroad with another Erasmus+ stay in Poland.

She encourages all students to give studying abroad a try, and she describes it as a "wonderful experience." 🌟
