And PLUPOT for the second time! :-)

This time, together with their co-authors Kristýna Červinková Poesová from Charles University in Prague and Jana Zerzová from Masaryk University in Brno, Eva Skopečková presented their work at the 34th Annual Conference of the Czech Educational Research Association (ČAPV) in Plzeň.

PLUPOT in Santiago de Compostela!

Our colleague Eva Skopečková presented the preliminary results of our international PLUPOT project in her talk on “The plurilingual and pluricultural potential of the 21st-century ELT classroom.”

The talk was part of a seminar on Global Englishes in ELT, co-organised by Eva at the ESSE 2026 International Conference in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Figuratively speaking, it was the final stop on the pilgrimage of PLUPOT’s pilot stage — and what a destination! A beautiful historic city, impressive sights, and a truly special spiritual atmosphere.

Onwards to the next stage of the PLUPOT journey!

One more celebratory event to mark the end of the semester: on 12 June, our colleague Eva Skopečková was officially appointed Associate Professor in Foreign Language Didactics.

She received her appointment decree from the Rector of Masaryk University, Prof. MUDr. Martin Bareš, Ph.D., together with other newly appointed associate professors during a ceremonial event in Brno.

As only a handful of scholars in the Czech Republic currently hold this title in the field of Foreign Language Didactics, the appointment highlights the significance of this achievement and the growing recognition of the discipline. We are pleased to share this milestone with our colleagues, students, and partners.

While many of you may already be aware of this news, we are delighted and proud to celebrate the official appointment of our colleague, prof. Justin Quinn, Ph.D. to the rank of Professor in the field of English-language Literature and Anglophone Cultures. We are immensely proud to have such an accomplished scholar and generous colleague among us. His work has enriched our department in countless ways, and we warmly congratulate him on this well-deserved achievement. We wish him every success in the next chapter of his academic career.

Our students employ a variety of inspiring reflective techniques and materials to explore Competency framework for teacher education graduates [Kompetenční rámec absolventa a absolventky učitelství] (MŠMT, 2023)...this time, they built their own "educational walls" (Korthagen, 2021; Korthagen& Nuijten, 2022).

V knihkupectví Megabooks proběhl 21.4. inspirativní seminář vedený Terezou Pech na téma „Jak na angličtinu od 1. třídy“. Akce byla určena studentům pedagogické fakulty se zaměřením na 1. stupeň a nabídla praktické tipy, jak efektivně a hravě začít s výukou angličtiny u nejmladších žáků. Seminář byl velmi přínosný, plný konkrétních ukázek a nápadů, které mohou budoucí učitelé ihned využít ve své praxi.
