🤩 When a leading European media outlet needs cutting-edge data skills, it turns to IPS.

🇪🇺 This summer, our team led by Michal Parízek delivered a tailored data analysis course directly for the policy intelligence unit of Politico.eu.

💚 The initiative came straight from our alumna currently working there, bringing IPS analytical expertise directly into top-tier political journalism.

👀 How did scientists, dissidents, and activists bridge the divides of the Cold War? And what can their experiences teach us today?

👏 Doubravka Olšáková organised an international conference, "Science, Dissent, and Activism: How Non-State Actors Challenged the Cold War Order," on 1–3 September.

🗣 We brought together scholars from 12 countries and 3 continents for three days of discussions on science diplomacy, peace activism, dissent, and academic freedom.

🤝 The conference was held in collaboration with the Leibniz-Institut für Geschichte und Kultur des östlichen Europa (GWZO) and the Division of History of Science and Technology Commission on Science, Technology and Diplomacy, as part of a project funded by the Czech Science Foundation.

😍 I letos jsme přivítali nastupující studenty na seznamovacím kurzu v Horním Poříčí.

😎 Jednotlivé programy účastníkům přiblížili David Jágr a koordinátor programu PVP Tomáš Halamka, který studenty seznámil také s možnostmi výjezdu v rámci programu Erasmus+.

💅 Ředitel IPS Petr Jüptner poté přijel vysvětlit fungování samotného institutu.

🌍 Bohumil Doboš si pro prváky připravil přednášku o geopolitickém významu afrického kontinentu.

💚 Doufáme, že jste si seznamovací kurz užili, a těšíme se na vás v Jinonicích!

🇵🇱 Our PhD students Filip Žiljak and Michal Malý spent part of their summer on a research stay at the University of Wrocław.

📚 While Žiljak examined the national-left reorientation of social democracy through the cases of SMER-SD and SOCDEM, Malý worked directly on his dissertation exploring intra-party digitalisation.

🤖 Malý also used this opportunity to finalize and submit a new academic paper on AI-mediation in political parties.

💚 We are proud to see our doctoral researchers actively taking their projects to the international academic stage.

🤩 On Friday, September 4, our doctoral student Tereza Plíštilová successfully defended her dissertation How media and publics make sense of contentious politics in the Middle East and North Africa, under the supervision of Michal Parízek, and earned her Ph.D. degree.
