spent her semester abroad in Eindhoven🇳🇱, and shared with us the 3 best and 3 worst parts of her experience✨
3 Best:
✨Friends: Meeting all the friends from different cultures was really the best memory of my studies abroad. Friends made the whole experience much better! I spent a lot of time with them, whether working on school projects, hosting dinner parties, or traveling together to different cities or countries. I’m still in contact with most of them, so I hope I will visit them one day!
✨Cycling: The Netherlands has great cycling infrastructure, and it was really easy to get around the city. I started cycling after a really long time, so it took me a few days to get used to it, but hey I learnt how to drive with one hand, which I consider a success!
✨Traveling: The Netherlands is a small country, so you can travel to other cities easily by train in just an hour. Other countries are also nearby, so you can travel to Belgium, Luxembourg, or the United Kingdom as well.
3 Worst:
✖️Weather: My exchange was during the winter semester, so the weather was quite cold. However, it rained a lot, and the combination of biking and rain is not really the best.
✖️Budgeting: The cost of living is quite high there, so you should definitely have spare money with you. It is possible to find good deals for food like Saturday markets, but the prices are still quite expensive. I used all my scholarship just to pay rent!
✖️Public transport: Since most people have bicycles, the transport there is not really convenient. Sometimes it’s just faster to cycle or walk to the destination. The tickets are also very expensive.
