Today, Siemens is kicking off the RIE - Event Week with a Virtual Lab Tour at RWTH Aachen University | Do you want to see what a Smart Automation Lab looks like? Do you know what is demonstrated in a Demonstration Factory?
Ahead of the Siemens Research and Innovation Ecosystem (RIE) Conference on “Sustainability in Production beyond Zero”, Siemens is offering a Virtual Lab Tour at Werkzeugmaschinenlabor WZL der RWTH Aachen. Two of the demonstration centers, the Smart Automation Lab and the Demonstration Factory Aachen will show what is possible today and how Industry 4.0 can be realised. Simon Roggendorf and Tim Janke will focus on modern communication technologies, intelligent data analysis and further approaches to human-machine interaction.

To provide a safe and reliable environment for mobility, Siemens Mobility asks students to create an AI model for a simple classification problem with demanding safety requirements. The problem is known from all textbooks, but the challenge is to fulfil the safety requirements with a high level of trust.

Your task?
You're encouraged to develop an AI-model that classifies given datasets and shall provide a stringent and traceable justification for the misclassification probability of the model.

🎓 Get to know the people behind Siemens CKI RWTH Aachen

Christina works in the Business Relations team at RWTH Innovation and is the CKI Manager for the collaboration with Siemens. She is the central point of contact for students, start-ups, researchers and professors at RWTH Aachen who want to get in touch with Siemens. Her focus lies on research and start-up cooperations but she is always happy to support students as well.

Sebastian is part of the team University Relations at Siemens. This team belongs to the central R&D strategy department and is very well connected throughout the company. In this position, he enables the interchange between Siemens and the RWTH Aachen and can find the perfect research and development partner within Siemens AG.
