+++ Bayreuther Physiker geben neue Einblicke in Teilchenbewegung +++

Physiker der Universität Bayreuth haben die sogenannte Geschichtskraft (engl.: history force) auf Teilchen in Flüssigkeiten untersucht. Oft wird sie wegen ihrer schwierigen Berechnung ignoriert, was der Bayreuther Doktorand Frederik Gareis noch als Gymnasiast während eines Schülerforschungsprojektes mit seinem Betreuer feststellte. Über ihre neuen Erkenntnisse zur Geschichtskraft berichten die Forscher im renommierten Fachjournal Physical Review Fluids.

+++ Bayreuth physicists provide new insights into particle motion +++

Physicists at the University of Bayreuth have investigated the so‑called history force acting on particles in fluids. Owing to the difficulty of calculating it, this force is often neglected — a fact that Bayreuth doctoral researcher Frederik Gareis already identified as a secondary school pupil during a student research project with his supervisor. The researchers report their new findings on the history force in the renowned journal Physical Review Fluids.

Dr. Markus Reichenberger hat an der Universität Bayreuth Physik studiert und 2017 bei Prof. Anna Köhler am Lehrstuhl für Experimentalphysik II promoviert. Heute arbeitet er bei KYON ENERGY und berichtet am Dienstag, den 12. Mai um 17 Uhr im Emil Warburg-Hörsaal H15 (NW I) im Rahmen des Absolventenkolloquiums „Physiker im Beruf“ von seiner Tätigkeit: „Als Physiker im Projekt-Management“.

Dr Markus Reichenberger studied physics at the University of Bayreuth and did his PhD in 2017 Chair of Experimental Physics II led by Prof. Anna Köhler. +++ Nobelpreisträger-Vortrag am 5. Mai +++

Am 5. Mai ist Chemie-Nobelpreisträger Prof. Ben Feringa zu Gast an der Uni Bayreuth. Auf Einladung des Chemischen Instituts und dem JCF in Zusammenarbeit mit Physikalischen Institut spricht er ab 17.15 Uhr im Emil Warburg-Hörsaal H15 zum Thema "From Molecular Machines to Photopharmacology". Wegen des großen Interesses gibt es eine Live-Übertragung in den Chemie-Hörsaal H14 nebenan.

On 5 May, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Prof. Ben Feringa will be visiting the University of Bayreuth. At the invitation of the Department of Chemistry and the JCF, in collaboration with the Department of Physics, he will give a talk from 5.15 pm in the Emil Warburg Lecture Hall H15 on the topic "From Molecular Machines to Photopharmacology". Due to high demand, there will be a live broadcast in the Chemistry Lecture Hall H14 next door.

+++ Thomas Trepl mit Presentation Prize ausgezeichnet +++

Auf dem „38th Molecular Modelling Workshop 2026“ Anfang März in Erlangen hat der Physiker Thomas Trepl vom Lehrstuhl für Theoretische Physik IV bei seinem Vortrag neue Erkenntnisse über die zeitaufgelöste ultraschnelle Anregungsdynamik in einem Lichtsammelantennenkomplex des Purpurbakteriums „Rhodoblastus acidophilus“ vorgestellt.

Dafür wurde er mit dem „Presentation prize“ 1. Platz ausgezeichnet.

+++ Thomas Trepl Awarded the Presentation Prize +++

At the “38th Molecular Modelling Workshop 2026” held in Erlangen in early March, physicist Thomas Trepl from the Chair of Theoretical Physics IV presented new findings on the time-resolved, ultrafast excitation dynamics in a light-harvesting antenna complex of the purple bacterium “Rhodoblastus acidophilus” during his lecture.

For this, he was awarded first place in the “Presentation Prize”.
