We would like to invite you to our new series of language courses within the Access Art Schools Berlin project!
It's a preparatory course program for refugee/at-risk student applicants.
The course is aimed at prospective students with refugee experience who would like to start an artistic-scientific degree course at a Berlin art academy and have already achieved a certain level of German.

We would like to warmly invite you to a film screening at Cinema Paris on 19 of May! This event is a part of Academic Freedom Week 2026, a cooperation between the Berlin University of the Arts KONRAD WOLF Film University Babelsberg, and Institut français Berlin.

Academic Freedom Week 2026 will focus on the themes of protection and (re)construction. The event will center on the complex life journeys of scholars and artists who have been forced to leave their homelands due to war, persecution, or political pressure and are now making a fresh start in new social contexts.

The main organizers are the universities of Scholars at Risk Berlin-Brandenburg and the Berlin University Alliance. Over the past ten years, the participating universities have welcomed numerous scholars and artists at risk. In 2023, they founded a regional Scholars at Risk Section to pool resources and expertise and further expand support structures.

Am 27.02. von 14.55-15.15 Uhr findet ein Info-Vortrag für Geflüchtete im Rahmen der Studieninformations-Messe "DeinStudium in Berlin-Brandenburg" statt! Es heisst Infovortrag für Geflüchtete: Wege ins Studium in Berlin.
Gern beraten wir Sie auch am Stand der Universität der Künste zu den Studienmöglichkeiten und Angeboten für geflüchtete/gefährdete Studieninteressierte. On February 27, from 2:55 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., an informational event for persons at risk will take place as part of the study information fair “DeinStudium in Berlin-Brandenburg” (Your Studies in Berlin-Brandenburg). It's called Infovortrag für Geflüchtete: Wege ins Studium in Berlin. The event will be held in German, questions in English are welcome.

We made it! The first big event of the new year—and hopefully the first cornerstone of our future series Dɪᴠᴇʀsɪᴛäᴛ ɪɴ Gᴇꜰᴀʜʀ—took place at the UdK Konzertsaal on January 19, 2026.

Together with Freie Universität , Alice Solomon Hochschule , Technische Universität , and Hochschule für Wirtschaft we say:
𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐞!

With almost 100 people attending (both in person and online), we had a thoughtful and engaging discussion with our panelists (left to right in the photo #1): Barış Ünal, Nina Hackmann, Prof. Dr. Dörte Busch, Melanie Bittner, Dr. Carolin Loysa, Alejandra Nieves Camacho, together with Nina Lawrenz.

The discussion was expertly moderated by Melanie Bittner, whose balance of warmth and professionalism created an open and respectful atmosphere. The event was opened by welcoming remarks from Dr. Melanie Waldheim (Photo #3, Artist Training; Vorsitzende der Kommission für Chancengleichheit, UdK) and Ana Begić (Photo #4 AStA-Referentin, UdK), who set the tone for the evening.

“Piloting Leadership Supports for Threatened Scholars and Practitioners” / Bard College and Bard College Berlin

Bard College Berlin is launching the Berlin segment of the "Piloting Leadership Supports for Threatened Scholars and Practitioners" project with the Scholars at Risk Berlin-Brandenburg network. The goal of the project is to design and implement new, innovative supports for at-risk scholars and civil society actors participating in university-based protective fellowships by centering leadership development for resilience and sustained impact.
The work of UdK Berlin Artist Training is to capture the needs of communities of artists at risk from different perspectives and translate them into a continuing education program with four modules including consulting for musicians, visual and performing artists, and filmmakers. The guiding principles are: joint design through an open call for proposals to the various communities, shared use of resources through working hours, infrastructure, and spaces at the UdK, and strengthening the position of vulnerable artists for better access to the job market.

ACCESS ART SCHOOLS ON TOUR

1. Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin on November 19th from 10:30 to 13:30.
Founded in 1946 as an alternative to the traditional art academy. Building on the ideas and teaching of the Bauhaus movement, the school of art and design stands out because of its unique profile.

The program:
• Presentation of the International Office including counselling services for international students with Leoni Adams
• A guided tour through the Hochschule
• A conversation with Prof. Dr. Ulf Aminde

2. Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF in Potsdam on November 20th from 10:00 to 13:00.
Founded in 1954, it is Germany's largest film school with an international reputation. In July 2014, it became the first German film school to be granted university status.

The program:
• Presentation of the Film University and its artistic study programmes, including the PrepClass with Monika Richter
• Introduction to the International Office and its advising services for international students
• Guided tour of the Film University led by a student
• Conversation with international students

Student Advisory Service presents an online Workshop: 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧.

What does it mean to study at an art college or academy in Germany? What historical developments lie behind the current understanding of art in Germany/Europe? What expectations and requirements do art students face? How do you apply? We will also take a look at the study regulations, and participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas in small groups.

This is a great chance to talk to our dream team, Dr. Mareike Brlečić Layer (Counseling for students and prospective students at risk) and Barbara Garnier (International student service).

We meet 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 on November 6, 10:30 to 12:30.
