📈 How can you start a small and build it into a global digital leader employing over 100 people in a span of just 9 years?

🎙️ We sat down with Artem Tsymbal to find out how he managed to do it by founding Artkai, a Ukraine based customer-centric digital engineering agency that provides end-to-end development, strategy & design services to clients across the world.

🤝 Artem spoke about how he became an entrepreneur despite never having anticipated it and how he grew his company from a fledgling startup into a world renowned digital agency that boasts over 100 employees and projects with large firms in Europe and USA. We also discussed the challenges of entrepreneurship and Artem’s learnings as a student in ESCP Business School’s program and how ESCP was instrumental in Artkai’s newest partnership with one of Poland’s largest IT consortiums.

🚀 We are very proud to announce that PhD candidate Ronja Kirschning has successfully defended her doctoral thesis on "Entrepreneurship in different institutional contexts"!

📚 Over the past three years Ronja has gone from the inception of her research to the culmination in the form of two Small Business Economics (VHB: B) and one Frontiers in Entrepreneurship (VHB: C) publications. The thesis, recognized with Summa Cum Laude distinction, reflects Ronja's profound intellect, dedication, academic prowess and contribution to the international entrepreneurship literature.

👏 We also want to extend our congratulations to Matthias Mrożewski, the Head of Blue Factory Berlin, as Ronja is the very first PhD graduate that he has supervised. We also express our gratitude to David Audretsch, who wholeheartedly supported Ronja in his capacity as the second supervisor. A special thank you goes to Axel Buchner for conducting the intensive debate during the defense. We also want to extend a big thank you to René Mauer and Sönke Mestwerdt for playing a vital part throughout Ronja's research journey. We wish Ronja the very best for all her future endeavors!

🤝 ESCP Business School Madrid campus and La French Tech Madrid have signed a agreement. The agreement consists of ESCP being the exclusive training partner of La French Tech in Madrid. ESCP students will be offered internships within the French Tech ecosystem/partners and the agreement also consists of promotion of training activities among La French members and associates that ESCP does with companies (such as free Consulting projects companies made by students) along with the organization of events.

🎉 As part of this collaboration, La French Tech Madrid celebrated its 10th Anniversary at the ESCP Maria de Molina campus in Madrid on October 18, 2023.

🚀 We would like to thank Prof. Niko Muñoz for spearheading this collaboration and being instrumental in this partnership. In Niko’s words, “The agreement with La French Tech Madrid is an important milestone in promoting the school's entrepreneurship activities in Madrid. ESCP Business School wants to contribute to energizing the entrepreneurial ecosystem by integrating the school's students with local startups. As well as being the academic bridge to accompany La French Tech startups in their landing in Spain”.

⚒️ The event consisted of 4 workshops: Fundraising, Reshaping our future (blockchain), International Expansion and Entrepreneurial Cycle. Take a look

Does management research need to shift towards design science, a paradigm that focuses on solving real-world problems by drawing on scientific knowledge? 💡

In a thought-provoking piece in the German newspaper FAZ.NET - Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, René Mauer, and Christoph Seckler suggest exactly this.

They express that management research primarily focuses on explaining past events, not imagining future solutions, making research less relevant for practice.

📉🕳️ Failure, failure, failure…
Reminder that tomorrow, Thursday 26th, the “The Science of Failing Successfully” masterclass by Prof. Christoph Seckler will take place!

Learning from errors and failures seems to be the mantra of our time. Popular approaches like Agile, Scrum, and Lean Startup have turned the ability to experiment and quickly learn from mistakes into a core competence for the early 21st century. But learning from errors is easier said than done…

In this masterclass, you’ll learn everything about the mindset needed to learn from failure, how to adopt it, and how to inspire others to do the same!
