Rechtskulturen: Confrontations beyond Comparison As a postdoctoral program, Rechtskulturen establishes a vibrant research network.

From 2010-2014, Rechtskulturen ("Legal Cultures") was a project of the Berlin Research Network Recht im Kontext (Law in Context, Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin) at the Forum Transregionale Studien. The research network Recht im Kontext aimed to enhance, from a genuinely legal perspective, a re-contextualization of legal phenomena in the wider field of the humanities and the cultural and social scie

nces. Formats such as colloquia, workshops, round-table discussions and lectures facilitated new forms of scholarly cooperation and dialogue integrating scholars from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds, regional contexts and academic fields of discourse. Each academic year, the program invited seven young scholars to Berlin, to pursue projects of their own choice which contribute to the study of Rechtskulturen. The fellows were part of a working group and cooperate with a larger group of scholars sharing a joint interest in contextual and contextualized legal knowledge.
