Open-Air Screening: HOW ABOUT HAVING A FASCINATION OF MIND with Katti Jisuk Seo

For our next open-air screening, we're happy to welcome Katti Jisuk Seo. In South Korea you can buy p**p-shaped bread 💩, DVD stores offer shelters for s*x, and a lot of people long to have a small face. German-Korean filmmaker Katti investigates those idiosyncrasies of her mom's home country.

Together with her German film partner Finnja, Katti flies to Seoul to ask: why do Koreans appreciate p**p so much? Where is the small face obsession coming from? What do the s*x shelters show us about society? They find a p**p philosopher, face-shrinking massages and home-making machines. Deep inside Korea, Katti longs to build a second home there, while Finnja questions her own idea of home.

Afterwards, we'll talk with Katti about the film, her search for home between two cultures, and personal, subjective filmmaking. 🎤

Für unser nächstes Open-Air-Screening freuen wir uns, Katti Jisuk Seo begrüßen zu dürfen. In Südkorea gibt es Brot in K***e-Form 💩 zu kaufen, DVD-Läden bieten heimliche Zufluchtsorte für S*x, und viele Menschen sehnen sich nach einem kleinen Gesicht. Die deutsch-koreanische Filmemacherin Katti geht diesen Eigenheiten der Heimat ihrer Mutter auf den Grund.

Gemeinsam mit ihrer deutschen Filmpartnerin Finnja fliegt Katti nach Seoul, um Fragen nachzugehen wie: Warum schätzen Koreaner:innen K***e so sehr? Woher kommt die Obsession mit dem kleinen Gesicht? Und was verraten uns die S*x-Unterschlüpfe über die Gesellschaft?

Tief in Korea sehnt sich Katti danach, sich dort ein zweites Zuhause zu bauen – während Finnja anfängt, ihre eigene Vorstellung von Heimat zu hinterfragen.

Im Anschluss sprechen wir mit Katti über den Film, ihre Suche nach Heimat zwischen zwei Kulturen und das persönlich-subjektive Filmemachen. 🎤

Leider müssen wir unser Open-Air-Screening von LOVE STEAKS am Mittwoch, den 29. Juli, absagen.
Aufgrund unvorhergesehener persönlicher Umstände kann Jakob Lass leider nicht in Berlin sein.

Wir schauen gerade, ob ein Ersatztermin möglich ist. Sobald es Neuigkeiten gibt, erfahrt ihr sie natürlich hier.

Open-Air Screening: LOVE STEAKS with Jakob Lass

For our next open-air screening, we're excited to welcome Jakob Lass. As one of Filmarche's best-known alumni, he has become a defining voice in German independent cinema through his distinctive improvisational approach.

We'll be screening his award-winning film LOVE STEAKS—a wild, funny, and unpredictable love story set in a wellness hotel. The film was made without scripted dialogue, relying instead on improvisation and leaving room for chance.
After the screening, we'll be joined by Jakob for a conversation about the film, his working process, and filmmaking between planning and improvisation.

Wir zeigen seinen preisgekrönten Film LOVE STEAKS – eine wilde, komische und unberechenbare Liebesgeschichte, die in einem Wellnesshotel spielt. Entstanden ist der Film ohne festgeschriebene Dialoge, mit viel Improvisation und Raum für Zufälle.
Im Anschluss sprechen wir mit Jakob über den Film, seine Arbeitsweise und das Filmemachen zwischen Planung und Improvisation.
