We’re still not over Berlin summer! ☀️ Berlin has nearly 100 lakes within its city limits, and thousands more nearby in Brandenburg. This summer during L&T, students took an excursion to cool off at beautiful Liepnitzsee for a much-needed lake day. 🏖️

As part of Dr. Riaz Partha Khan’s Language & Thinking group, students visited the Dorotheenstadt Cemetery in Berlin-Mitte, regarded as one of Berlin’s most significant cemeteries. Many famous German writers, philosophers, and artists are buried here, such as Bertolt Brecht, Heinrich Mann, Johann Gottlieb Fichte, Anna Seghers, and many more. 📜

Did you know Berlin is home to the largest inner-city open space in the world? 🌳 Tempelhofer Feld is a former historic airport that has been converted into a massive public park where Berliners can enjoy wide-open grass, clear skies, and space for recreation, creativity, and community.

First-year students in Dr. John Crutchfield's Language & Thinking group recently took an excursion to the park, bringing their readings and discussions out of the classroom. ☀️

The Berlin Summer Studio program concluded with a group art critique session and a public Open Studios exhibition for students to display the multimedia visual artwork they created throughout the four-week program. 🖼️

This summer, students from the Bard Early Colleges (BEC), a network of 10 satellite campuses of Bard College housed in public schools across the United States, took part in a three week summer academic intensive in partnership with Bard College Berlin. 📖

From seminars such as "Politics is Theater: Brecht in Berlin," to excursions outside the classroom to Berlin's Jewish Museum and Fractured Lifeworlds exhibition at .initiative, the BEC Berlin Summer Intensive introduced early college students to travel abroad and specifically, to the history, culture, and art scene of Germany’s vibrant capital.

The spacious, light-filled art studios at Bard College Berlin's practicing arts complex at Monopol-Berlin allows arts students to hone their craft with all the tools they need. 🖌️ Students in the Berlin Summer Studio program frequently made use of the space as part of the intensive program this summer. 🎨

The final performances of this year's Berlin Theater Intensive marked the end of another successful summer program. Students presented the culmination of their studies and hard work accomplished throughout the four week program.
