That’s a wrap for our 2025 winter intensive journalism programme.
What a crazy two weeks! We managed to create a winter guide to Berlin, a round up of our 9 favourite Christmas markets, and conducted a group interview with award winning graphic novelist Ulli Lust.
The team are dotting I’s and crossing T’s to prepare the magazine for publishing and printing in the coming days.
Thank you everyone for sticking with it and working multiple late nights to meet our incredibly tight deadline:
Determined, rigorous and tireless as always, Nadja our Editor-in-chief and mentor who pushes everyone to meet her unerring journalistic standards.
Maia for bringing her creativity and positivity. The graphic design is a huge part of realising our collective work, and Maia has been invaluable on our last two projects.
And then, of course, our programme members:
With Brazilian flair 🇧🇷, Leila featured Berlin running clubs, a not-for-tourists German restaurant and the Berlin Wall Memorial. As well as a sharp eye for detail in the proof reading. We loved your bright outlook!
Isabella worked relentlessly on her articles: the Berlinische gallery, a one-screen cinema for transnational film bandits, the lesser known holocaust memorial ‚Gleis 17‘ and the huge challenge of transcribing and making sense of our group interview. Isa always wanted to take on more work!
Dilara for writing about Tränenpalast - a former GDR border crossing, Cafe’s Vingot and Bavul, and the Helmut Newton Foundation. Always patient, Dilara was our lead photographer and spent a lot of time in the field, producing stunning pictures.
Max for the West Berlin jazz club, Schöneberg’s favourite hot dog stand, and the tours through Berlin’s underground bunkers. Proofreading, and helping with our group interview, Max has a keen eye and a way with words. Also for bringing comedic relief to our stressier deadline moments.
It was a great time working with you all and the two weeks flew by.
We look forward to sharing our magazine!
