In Kooperation mit der Verbundforschungsplattform Worlds of Contradiction (WOC) veranstaltet das Netzwerk „Profs gegen Rechts“ erneut im Sommersemester 2026 die Vorlesungsreihe „Gefährdete Demokratie“.
Seit einiger Zeit erstarken in Deutschland und weltweit anti-demokratische Kräfte. Sie sind eng verknüpft mit Rassismus, Antisemitismus, Islamfeindlichkeit, Sexismus, Klimawandelleugnung, neoliberaler Politik sowie wachsendem Anti-Intellektualismus und Nationalismus. Auch die Wissenschaftsfreiheit gerät zunehmend unter politischen Druck.
Die Vorlesungsreihe beleuchtet diese Entwicklungen aus verschiedenen Perspektiven, thematisiert die Verwundbarkeit demokratischer Prinzipien und stärkt die Universität als Ort des offenen Dialogs. Sie richtet sich an Universitätsangehörige und die interessierte Öffentlichkeit und stellt Ursachen und Formen der Gefährdung demokratischer Gesellschaften in den Mittelpunkt.

In cooperation with the collaborative research platform Worlds of Contradiction (WOC), the “Professors Against the Right” network will once again host the lecture series “Democracy Under Threat” during the summer semester of 2026.
For some time now, anti-democratic forces have been gaining strength in Germany and around the world. They are closely linked to racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, sexism, climate change denial, neoliberal policies, as well as growing anti-intellectualism and nationalism. Academic freedom is also coming under increasing political pressure.
This lecture series examines these developments from various perspectives, addresses the vulnerability of democratic principles, and strengthens the university as a place of open dialogue. It is aimed at university members and the interested public and focuses on the causes and forms of threats to democratic societies.
