Wir freuen uns sehr über die beeindruckende Zahl an Vorträgen und Aktivitäten unseres Labs Platform Governance, Media, and Technology (PGMT) auf der AoIR-Konferenz 2026. Großartige Arbeit, liebes Team!

Was ist die AoIR 2026?

Die Jahreskonferenz der Association of Internet Researchers (AoIR) findet vom 14. bis 17. Oktober 2026 im Hyatt Regency Hotel in Mexiko-Stadt statt. Das diesjährige Konferenzthema „Regenerations“ lädt dazu ein, tiefgreifende Prozesse technologischer, kultureller, politischer, künstlerischer und infrastruktureller Erneuerung zu untersuchen.

Die Konferenz geht über ein rein technisches Verständnis von Nachhaltigkeit hinaus und versteht Regeneration als einen ethischen und relationalen Prozess. Darüber hinaus sollen Perspektiven entwickelt und politische sowie gemeinschaftsbasierte Alternativen zu den Optimierungslogiken der Technologiebranche erkundet werden.

What is AoIR 2026?

The annual conference of the Association of Internet Researchers (AoIR) takes place from October 14 to 17, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Mexico City. This year's theme, “Regenerations,” invites participants to explore profound processes of technological, cultural, political, artistic, and infrastructural renewal.

The conference moves beyond a purely technical understanding of sustainability, approaching regeneration as an ethical and relational process. It also seeks to develop maps and explore political and community-based alternatives to the optimization logics of the tech industry.

ZeMKI-Mitglied Kerstin Radde-Antweiler hat gemeinsam mit internationalen Kolleg:innen Politikempfehlungen aus dem Projekt RECOV-19 veröffentlicht.
Ergebnisse aus dem Projekt „RECOV-19: Religions in Societies Emerging from COVID-19" liegen nun als Policy Paper vor. Mitautorin ist Prof. Dr. Kerstin Radde-Antweiler (Universität Bremen, ZeMKI), die das Projekt gemeinsam mit Gladys Ganiel (Queen’s University Belfast) und Solange Lefebvre (Université de Montréal) leitete. Weitere Autor:innen sind Marta Kołodziejska und Sławomir Mandes (Universität Warschau). Das Papier „Religions During a Public Health Emergency: Policy Lessons for the European Commission’s Dialogue with Churches, Religious Associations and Non-Confessional Organisations” erschien im September 2026.

ZeMKI member Kerstin Radde-Antweiler has published policy recommendations from the RECOV-19 project together with international colleagues.
Findings from the project “RECOV-19: Religions in Societies Emerging from COVID-19” are now available as a policy paper. Co-author Prof. Dr. Kerstin Radde-Antweiler (University of Bremen, ZeMKI) led the project together with Gladys Ganiel (Queen’s University Belfast) and Solange Lefebvre (Université de Montréal). Further authors are Marta Kołodziejska and Sławomir Mandes (University of Warsaw). The paper, “Religions During a Public Health Emergency: Policy Lessons for the European Commission’s Dialogue with Churches, Religious Associations and Non-Confessional Organisations”, was published in September 2026.
The three-year project (2022–2025) was funded by the Trans-Atlantic Platform.

Das Lab Medien und Religion veranstaltet am Donnerstag, den 8. Oktober 2026, ein Studierendensymposium. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Ergebnisse zweier Seminare zu den Themen Verschwörungstheorien und (rechte) Christfluencer:innen. Die Studierenden stellen dort ihre Lehrforschungsprojekte vor.
Das Symposium ist offen für alle Interessierten. Das Programm finden Sie hier.

The Lab Media and Religion is hosting a student symposium on Thursday, October 8, 2026. The event will showcase the results of two seminars focusing on conspiracy theories and (far-right) Christian influencers, with students presenting their teaching-based research projects.
