Forschungsstipendium Tanzwissenschaft

Die Gleichstellungskommission der Hochschule und das Zentrum für Zeitgenössischen Tanz vergibt ein Forschungsstipendium in Höhe von 3.000 € für das Forschungskollegs Tanzwissenschaft. Gefördert werden herausragende, interdisziplinäre Forschungsprojekte mit genderbezogenen Fragestellungen, die mit den Beständen des Deutschen Tanzarchivs Köln arbeiten. Bewerben können sich nationale und internationale promovierte sowie promovierende Wissenschaftler*innen.

The Equal Opportunities Commission of the university and the Center for Contemporary Dance award a research grant of €3,000 for the Dance Studies Research Colloquium. The grant supports outstanding, interdisciplinary research projects with a focus on gender-related questions that engage with the holdings of the German Dance Archive Cologne. Applications are open to national and international researchers who have completed or are currently pursuing a doctorate.

Circus Dance Practices #1
May 23 and May 30

With “Circus Dance Practices #1”, the CCD, in collaboration with the CircusDanceFestival, launches a multi-week artistic research project at the intersection of circus and dance starting on May 18. Together with students from the BA Dance programme, internationally active French juggler and performer Guillaume Martinet (Compagnie DeFracto) explores the relationship between body and object, as well as between technical precision and playful experimentation. On May 23, the performers will offer an insight into the collaborative working process as part of the CircusDanceFestival.
To conclude the two-week “Circus Dance Practices #1” research phase with Guillaume Martinet, the students will move into the urban space of Cologne for a second public performance on May 30.

Circus Dance Practices #1
23. Mai und 30.Mai

Mit „Circus Dance Practices #1“ startet das ZZT, in Zusammenarbeit mit dem CircusDanceFestival, ab dem 18. Mai ein mehrwöchiges künstlerisches Forschungsprojekt zwischen Zirkus und Tanz: Gemeinsam mit Studierenden des BA-Studiengangs Tanz erforscht der international tätige französische Jongleur und Performer Guillaume Martinet (Compagnie DeFracto) die Beziehung zwischen Körper und Objekt sowie zwischen technischer Präzision und spielerischem Experimentieren. Am 23. Mai geben die Performer*innen im Rahmen des CircusDanceFestivals Einblick in die gemeinsame Arbeitsphase.
Zum Abschluss der zweiwöchigen „Circus Dance Practices 1“-Recherchephase mit Guillaume Martinet begeben sich die Studierenden am 30. Mai für eine zweite öffentliche Performance in den Kölner Stadtraum.

Between Bodies – A moving encounter with art at Kolumba Museum

In the guided tour “Between Bodies”, the Kolumba Museum, in collaboration with the master’s programmes in Mediation in Dance and Dance Studies, warmly invites visitors to physically experience the museum’s unique architecture, its spaces, and the artworks on display. How do our bodies visit art? Or does art visit our bodies? With these questions in mind, we will collectively explore new perspectives on selected artworks.

Zwischen Körpern - Eine bewegte Kunstbegegnung im Kolumba Museum

Im Rundgang „Zwischen Körpern“ lädt das Kolumba Museum in Zusammen­arbeit mit den Mastertudiengängen Tanz­vermittlung und Tanz­wissenschaft herzlich ein, die einzigartige Architektur des Kolumba Museums, seine Räume und ausgestellten Kunstwerke körperlich wahrzunehmen. Wie besuchen unsere Körper Kunst? Oder besucht die Kunst unsere Körper? Mit diesen Fragen im Hinterkopf nehmen wir gemeinsam neue Perspektiven zu ausgewählten Kunstwerken ein.

Wining – the circular, rhythmic movement of hips and pelvis – and liming – spending time together, talking, listening to music – both have their roots in everyday Caribbean social and movement practices. They form the starting point for an open gathering at tanzhaus nrw: a space for dancing, exchange, and shared enjoyment.
Together with Malik Nashad Sharpe – a choreographer and movement director working across art, fashion and music – and a group of artists, including Sevi Bayraktar and students of ZZT,
a space emerges in which different experiences come into encounter.

Lilly Zintl und Prof. Florian Hollerweger at the International Conference on Movement and Computing (MOCO’26)

From 23–25 April 2026, the International Conference on Movement and Computing (MOCO’26) took place at the Cité des Arts Montpellier. The Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln is represented by Lilly Zintl (BA Dance) and Prof. Florian Hollerweger (ZKD), presenting on “Streaming Open Sound Control data from a commercially available IMU suit in real time for performative sonic arts projects.”
Their contribution explores the use of a motion-capture suit that enables the translation of movement into electronic sound (as well as images, video, light, etc.) in real time.
At the Zentrum für Künstlerische Forschung und Digitale Innovation (ZKD, such a suit has been available for the past two semesters and has already been used in two joint seminars with the Center for Contemporary Dance (CCD). The conference presentation focuses on a software solution implemented by Lilly Zintl, which enables integration of the suit with digital music software (e.g. Ableton Live and other DAWs), as well as insights gained from its application in artistic practice.

Vom 23. bis 25.4.26 fand in der Cité des Arts Montpellier die International Conference on Movement and Computing (MOCO’26) statt. Die HfMT ist mit einer Präsentation von Lilly Zintl (BA Tanz) und Prof. Florian Hollerweger (ZKD) zum Thema „Streaming Open Sound Control data from a commercially available IMU suit in real time for performative sonic arts projects“ vertreten. Sie berichten über die Nutzung eines Motion-Capture-Suits, der die Übersetzung von Bewegungen in elektronische Klänge (aber auch Bilder, Videos, Licht, etc.) in Echtzeit ermöglicht.
Am Zentrum für Künstlerische Forschung und Digitale Innovation (ZKD) gibt es seit zwei Semestern einen ebensolchen Suit, der bisher im Rahmen zweier gemeinsamer Seminare am ZZT und ZKD eingesetzt wurde. Der Konferenzbeitrag thematisiert eine von Lilly Zintl implementierte Softwarelösung, die die Nutzung des Suits mit digitaler Musiksoftware ermöglicht (z.B. Ableton Live oder andere DAWs), sowie bisherige Erfahrungen im künstlerisch-praktischen Kontext.

CCD at the Dialaw Festival / Senegal

Lili Nocon and Matilda Behrends (students BA Dance) will travel to Toubab Dialaw (Senegal) from April 19 - 29 together with Vera Sander and Kojiro Imada. The excursion centers on the presentation of the performance “Roaming” as well as active participation in an interdisciplinary atelier focused on exchange, engagement, and feedback.

On site, participants will encounter both international and local artists, experience dance and music cultures in their immediate context, and contribute to community-oriented formats in public space. The festival positions itself as a platform for artistic dialogue, actively involving the local community in performances, educational formats, and collaborative projects.

The excursion opens up new perspectives on artistic practice, intercultural collaboration, and sustainable networks—and will be collectively reflected upon in a follow-up workshop in Cologne.

Das ZZT beim DIALAW Festival / Senegal

Lili Nocon und Matilda Behrends (Studierende BA Tanz) reisen vom 19.-29. April gemeinsam mit Vera Sander und Kojiro Imada zum DIALAW Festival nach Toubab Dialaw (Senegal). Im Zentrum der Exkursion stehen die Präsentation der Performance „Roaming“ sowie die aktive Teilnahme an einem interdisziplinären Atelier zu Austausch, Beteiligung und Feedback.

Vor Ort begegnen die Teilnehmenden internationalen und lokalen Künstler*innen, erleben Tanz- und Musikkulturen im direkten Kontext und wirken an gemeinschaftsbildenden Formaten im öffentlichen Raum mit. Das Festival versteht sich als Plattform für künstlerischen Dialog und bindet die Stadtgesellschaft aktiv in Aufführungen, Vermittlungsformate und kollaborative Projekte ein.

Die Exkursion eröffnet neue Perspektiven auf künstlerische Praxis, interkulturelle Zusammenarbeit und nachhaltige Netzwerke – und wird im Anschluss in einem Workshop in Köln gemeinsam reflektiert.
