Im Rahmen einer Delegationsreise des Ministers Tiefensee ging es für Herrn Stangenberger, Prof. Schick und den Kolleginnen von ASW im September nach Indien. Dort fanden nach offiziellen Treffen in den Botschaften, weitere Treffen in unserer Partner-Universität Jamia Millia Islamia statt. Dabei ging es neben dem Ausbau von interdisziplinären Forschungskooperationen auch um den seit 20 Jahren bestehenden akademischer Austausch unseres Fachbereichs und dem Civ.Eng. Departement of Environmental Sciences bei der Faculty of Engineering and Technology in New Delhi. Zudem wurde das Krankenhaus Holy Family Hospital Delhi besucht, welches durch die dramatische Berichterstattung am Anfang der Covid-19 Krise zu unserer Spendenaktion an der FHE geführt hatte (Beitrag unten:))

As part of a delegation trip by Minister Tiefensee, Mr Stangenberger, Prof. Schick and the colleagues of ASW went to India in September. There, after official meetings at the embassies, further meetings took place at our partner university Jamia Millia Islamia. In addition to the expansion of interdisciplinary research cooperation, they also discussed the DAAD exchange between our department and the Civ. Department of Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology in New Delhi. In addition, the Holy Family Hospital Delhi was also visited, which had led to our fundraising campaign at the FHE due to the dramatic reporting at the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis (article below).

Review:) Am 05. Oktober 2022 fand der 2. Thüringer Holzbautag unter dem Motto „Thüringen auf dem Weg zum Holzbauland!“ an der Fachhochschule Erfurt statt. Über 120 Interessierte nahmen in Präsenz oder online an der hybriden Veranstaltung teil.

On 05 October 2022, the 2nd Thuringian Timber Construction Day took place at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt under the topic "Thuringia on the way to becoming a timber construction state!". More than 120 interested people participated in the hybrid event in presence or online.

Das neue Semester ist gestartet und gleich ging es im Rahmen der Erstsemestertage auf die Baustelle. Dabei ging es mit Herrn Stangenberger zur Baustelle „Promenadendeck“. Ein umfangreiches Brückenbauobjekt im Bereich des Schmidtstedter Knotens welches später auch zur Erschließung der ICE City Ost dienen soll.

The semester has started and we immediately went to the construction site as part of the first semester days. Mr. Stangenberger took us to the " Promenadendeck" construction site. This is an extensive bridge construction project in the area of the “Schmidtstedter Knoten” to open up the ICE City East.

Seit 2019 bearbeiten Studierende des Masterstudienganges Konstruktiver Ingenieurbau im Rahmen von inzwischen drei Projektarbeiten im Modul Bauen im Bestand die Pfründnerhäuser im Thüringer Volkskundemuseum Erfurt. Die Studierenden haben in den Archiven nach alten Bauunterlagen gesucht, danach in drei Abschnitten das Gebäude per Hand und auch digital mit einem 3D-Scan aufgemessen, Bauschäden erfasst und darauf aufbauend Vorschläge zur Sanierung des Gebäudes erarbeitet. Das Projekt fand letzte Woche seinen Abschluss mit der Präsentation der Ergebnisse durch 12 Studierende des Jahrganges 2021-22 vor den betreuenden Professor*innen und Vertretern der unteren Denkmalschutzbehörde der Stadt Erfurt.

Since 2019, students on the Master's degree course in Structural Engineering have been working on the Pfründnerhäuser in the Thuringian Folklore Museum in Erfurt as part of the subject Building in Existing Contexts. The students searched the archives for old construction documents, then measured the building in three sections by hand and also digitally with a 3D scan, recorded structural damage and, based on this, developed proposals for renovating the building. The project came to a close last week with the presentation of the results by 12 students from the class of 2021-22 to their supervising professors and representatives of the lower monument protection authority of the city of Erfurt.

Heute sind wir bei Felix im Labor zu Gast, der sich in seiner Masterthesis mit glasfaserverstärktem Kunststoff (GFK) im Brückenbau beschäftigt. Im Labor führt er hierzu verschiedene Zug- und Biegeversuche an GFK-Trägern durch. Diese praxisorientierte Arbeit entsteht in Zusammenarbeit zwischen der FHE und der IG Federlein. Wir sind gespannt auf die Ergebnisse.

Today we are guests of Felix in the laboratory, who is working on his master's thesis on glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) in bridge construction. In the lab, he is conducting various tensile and bending tests on GRP girders. This practice-oriented work is being done in cooperation with the FHE and IG Federlein. We are looking forward to the results.

Wir haben ein neues Gesicht in unserer Fakultät. Frau Katja Watterott-Schmidt wird unsere Fakultät und die Fakultät GTI als Dekanatsassistentin mit ihrer jahrelangen Erfahrung in den Schwerpunkten Unternehmens- und Hochschulkommunikation sowie Koordinierung für Fakultätsangelegenheiten bereichern. Nach dem Studium in Anglistik und Kommunikation sowie Stationen in Leipzig, Oslo und an der Universitätsmedizin Greifswald hat Frau Watterott-Schmidt 2,5 Jahre an der Georgetown University in Qatar gearbeitet. Nun ist sie nach 26 Jahren wieder nach Erfurt zurückgekehrt und wir freuen uns Frau Watterot-Schmidt jetzt in unserer Fakultät willkommen zu heißen.

We have a new face in our faculty. Katja Watterott-Schmidt will support our faculty and the GTI faculty as the dean's assistant. She studied English and Communications and has many years of experience in the areas of corporate and university communications and in the coordination of faculty affairs. After working in Leipzig and Oslo she took a position at the University Medical Center Greifswald. Furthermore, Mrs. Watterott-Schmidt worked for 2.5 years at Georgetown University in Qatar. Now, after 26 years, she has returned to Erfurt and we are pleased to welcome Mrs. Watterott-Schmidt to our faculty.

Die ersten Tage des neuen Jahres sind schon vorbei und es wird auch schon wieder fleißig gearbeitet. Wir wünschen allen einen guten Start in ein gesundes und fröhliches 2022.
