Das Department Werkstoffwissenschaften besteht aus 9 Lehrstühlen mit derzeit 18 hauptamtlichen Professoren und ca. 190 wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeitern.

Das Department deckt die gesamte Breite des Faches in Forschung und Lehre ab.

Yet another holiday coming up - and some free time for you to catch your breath and relax:

Coming Monday, May 25th 2026, is Whitsun, a national holiday.
The following day (Tuesday, May 26th) is „Bergdienstag“, an exclusively Erlangian holiday. 🥳🤗

There will be no lectures on either Monday or Tuesday.

Please note that all shops will be closed on Monday and many close early on Tuesday.
So, if you need to stock up on groceries or any other essentials, please make sure to do so well in advance. Also, keep in mind that public transportation may have a different schedule, so plan your travels accordingly.

Most importantly, take this opportunity to relax and enjoy the day off - maybe by taking a spin on the large ferris wheel at the Bergkirchweih / „Berch“ (= Erlangian Oktoberfest).

Am 21. und 23. April 2026 finden am Department Werkstoffwissenschaften der die wissenschaftlichen Vorträge und Lehrproben im Rahmen des Berufungsverfahrens für die neu eingerichtete W3-Professur für Werkstoffe und Materialien der Kernfusionstechnologie statt.

Der neue Lehrstuhl soll 2027 seinen Betrieb aufnehmen.

Vorträge und Lehrproben sind öffentlich. Wissenschaftliches und nicht-wissenschaftliches Personal sowie Studierende sind herzlich dazu eingeladen.
