Die Abteilung für Internationale Angelegenheiten ist für die Koordination der zahlreichen Kooperationsabkommen und -verträge der Europa-Universität Viadrina zuständig. Neben der Organisation internationaler Partnerschafts- und Austauschprogramme steht die Betreuung der Viadrina-Studenten, Gaststudierenden, internationalen Studieninteressierten und Wissenschaftler im Vordergrund.

The Department of International Affairs is responsible for the coordination and support the mentoring of the numerous cooperation agreements and contracts of the European University Viadrina. In addition to the organization of international partnership and study abroad agreements we are also focusing on the support of the Viadrina students who are interested in studying one or two semesters abroad, international students and international guest professors and academics.

☀️ Summer semester, you were a good one! 💛

As another semester at Viadrina comes to an end, we’re taking a moment to look back at the people, places and little moments that made it special. 🌍✨

That’s what is all about: sharing the memories and stories of the students who have made Viadrina part of their journey. 🫶🏼

We’re kicking things off with Hanane, an Erasmus student at Europa-Universität Viadrina, who shared what her experience was like:

“Erasmus has honestly been one of the best experiences of my life! 🌍✨ It completely opened my mind and made me discover new places, cultures, perspectives and, most importantly, so many amazing people. I’m incredibly grateful for all the people I met and all the memories we created together — birthdays, dinners, trips, spontaneous plans and simply sharing everyday life. 🫶🏼

One of the things I loved most about Viadrina was its multicultural environment. Living and sharing experiences with people from so many different backgrounds made me feel truly international.

Erasmus taught me so much, not only academically but also personally. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, helped me grow and gave me a completely different perspective on the world.

If you’re considering going on Erasmus, I can only say: go for it! ✈️❤️ You’ll gain much more than just study credits — you’ll gain memories, friendships, experiences and a whole new way of seeing the world. 🌎✨”

🌍🎓 From Tashkent to Viadrina!

On August 6, the European University Viadrina welcomed 25 high-school students from ALUWED (Academic Lyceum of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, together with their principal and three German teachers.

The visit offered the students a first-hand look at Viadrina and its study preparatory programmes within the Viadrina College, with a special focus on the Viadrina Fast Track and the Viadrina Fast Track (ENG-Track).

🏫 During their visit, the group explored our campus, learned more about studying at Viadrina and met ALUWED alumni who are currently completing the German-taught Viadrina Fast Track.

We are especially happy to see this international connection continuing: after successfully completing the Fast Track, these alumni will begin their Bachelor’s studies at Viadrina’s Faculty of Business Administration and Economics in October 2026. 🎓✨

Who knows? Maybe among the students visiting us from Tashkent today, we will welcome some of our future Viadrina students tomorrow! 🤝🌏

We look forward to continuing this international exchange and to welcoming many more students from ALUWED to Viadrina in the future.

One week in Paris, one unforgettable Erasmus+ experience. 🇪🇺💙

“From 1–5 September 2025, I had the opportunity to take part in the Erasmus+ Summer School *Marriage in Premodern Times* in Paris. It was a week full of inspiring lectures, historical sites, museums, discussions and new international connections.

As a wheelchair user, however, experiencing Paris also meant facing the reality of accessibility. From cobblestone streets and uneven pavements to limited access to public transport, restaurants and accessible restrooms, getting around the city was often challenging. Finding suitable accommodation was another major obstacle, and I even had to change hotels during my stay.

Despite these challenges, the experience was incredibly rewarding. 💙”

The additional Erasmus+ funding for participants with disabilities played an essential role in making this opportunity possible, helping to cover the extra costs of accessible accommodation and transportation. The support from his university also made the preparation and application process much easier.

♿️🌍 Fakhar’s biggest takeaway? Accessibility should never be an afterthought. Studying abroad should be an opportunity available to everyone, regardless of disability.

To anyone considering an Erasmus+ experience: don’t let accessibility concerns stop you. Plan ahead, ask for support, know your needs — and go for it. ✈️

🇨🇴❤️ Standing with Colombia
Following the devastating earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10, Viadrina stands in solidarity with all those affected, their families, and the communities facing the difficult days ahead.
In this time of solidarity, our partner university, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (PUJ) in Cali, has shared with us an initiative to support the relief efforts coordinated by the Jesuit Province of Colombia, which is working alongside local authorities and organisations directly supporting the affected communities.
At Viadrina, we believe that university communities extend far beyond borders. In moments of crisis, solidarity, care and collective action can offer hope and meaningful support to those who need it most.

🌲 A new country. A new perspective. A journey to remember.

Meet Shoaziz Shoabdukarimov, a Viadrina Student who spent his exchange semester at the University of Vaasa in Finland. 🇫🇮

Looking for a new cultural experience, Shoaziz chose Finland to discover what makes this country unique and to experience life in one of the world’s happiest nations.

“Coming to Finland was a chance to experience a new culture and understand why it is often ranked as the happiest country in the world. My exchange semester was an incredible experience, both academically and personally. I had always dreamed of seeing the Northern Lights, and during my time in Finland, I was lucky enough to witness them almost every day. But the most valuable part of this journey was meeting people I will never forget. Choosing Finland as my exchange destination was one of the best decisions I made.”

Every exchange journey is different — but each one offers the opportunity to explore new cultures, challenge yourself, and create memories that last far beyond the semester abroad. 🌍✨

🌍 Become an International Viadrina Ambassador! ✨

Are you an international student at the Europa-Universität Viadrina with a foreign school-leaving qualification? Do you want to share your experience and inspire future students in your home country? 💙

The International Viadrina Ambassador Program gives you the opportunity to return to your former school and introduce students to studying at Viadrina, student life in Frankfurt (Oder), and your personal journey as an international student in Germany. 🎓🌍

As a Viadrina Ambassador, you will:
✨ share your own study experience and provide valuable tips to prospective students
✨ present the opportunities of studying at Viadrina and in Germany
✨ answer students’ questions and support them in their transition from school to university
✨ represent our international university community in your home country

The program includes a mandatory preparation workshop and professional presentation training to help you feel confident during your school visit. You will also receive support with your ambassador mission and a contribution towards your travel costs. ✈️

International Viadrina students from all fields of study who:
✔️ are currently studying at Viadrina
✔️ obtained their school-leaving qualification abroad
✔️ enjoy communicating and sharing their experiences with others

🌍📚 The journey to Viadrina starts here!

On 8 July, the 2026 summer programmes of Viadrina College kicked off at Europa-Universität Viadrina, bringing together 34 students from Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Vietnam, India and the USA.

Participants in Viadrina Fast Track, Viadrina Fast Track (ENG-Track), Studienbrücke and Viadrina Law Track are spending the summer preparing for their future studies in Germany. The preparatory programmes combine intensive language courses with subject-specific classes, helping students develop the linguistic and academic skills they need for their next step at Viadrina.

These photos were taken during a C1.1 German course, with participants from Viadrina Fast Track, Viadrina Law Track and Studienbrücke. A big thank you to Urszula Biermann for guiding the students through their German language preparation! 🇩🇪✨

After successfully completing their subject-specific preparation, the participants will take the Hochschulzugangsprüfung (HZP) and, where required, the DSH. Passing the necessary exams opens the way to their chosen Bachelor’s degree programme at Viadrina from October 2026. 🎓

We wish all participants a successful summer full of learning, new connections and exciting beginnings! 💙

Our Summer School students certainly do! 🎓😊
At our Summer School: Exploration of Migration and Culture in Germany, learning goes far beyond the classroom. 📚➡️🌍 Last Saturday, our students stepped back in time ⏳ as they explored the 750-year history of Kloster Neuzelle. 🏛️ They admired its stunning Baroque architecture, encountered the resident monks 👨‍🦲⛪, discovered the rich German brewing tradition 🍺, and even sampled locally brewed beer. 🍻
