For more than nine years, researchers from the Research Training Group GRK 2300 (EnriCo) have spent countless hours in the field, in the laboratory and at their computers: What have they discovered about the forests? 🌳🔍
Last Wednesday, 7 October, three generations of postdocs and PhD researchers presented and discussed their research and findings at the final symposium. The research project focuses on mixed forests of beech and coniferous trees, with particular emphasis on Douglas fir as a non-native but highly productive tree species.
How does the admixture of conifer species affect the processes and ecosystem services of forest ecosystems? Are such mixed forests more resilient to climate change?
The Research Training Group 2300: Enrichment of European beech forests with conifers (EnriCo) has been funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) from 2017 to 2026.
