Marie Brinkmann presented the PEP project at the International Conference "The Role of Teachers in the Plurilingual Approach: Beliefs – Practices – Training", on the 28th May 2026 at Masaryk University in Brno. The presentation, co-authored by Gkaintartzi, dealt with the transition from beliefs to professionalization by focusing on plurilingual approaches in
language teacher education. The discussion generated considerable positive recognition for PEP, and, with multiple PEP participants presenting and disseminating the project's work, references to PEP were prominent throughout the conference. This widespread visibility reflects the project's growing recognition and influence within the community. 🎉The article "“A system that is geared towards competition”: Identity-based pedagogies and student teachers’ beliefs about resisting neoliberal and neoconservative structures in the educational system", by Marie Brinkmann & Franziska Gerwers, has just been published in the McGill Journal of Education. The authors use discourse and content analysis of online discussion to examine how identity-based pedagogies relate to student teachers’ beliefs about resisting neoliberal and neoconservative structures in language education. Critical perspectives on equity, capital, and agency are especially articulated by those with personal experiences of poverty and racism.
