Das Institut für Ethnologie (Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology) der Universität Hamburg ist eines der größten der ethnologischen Universitätsinstitute in Deutschland. in der Vielfalt der Nebenfachstudierenden aus etwa vierzig verschiedenen Fächern manifestiert. Neben der Entwicklung und Vermittlung neuer Forschungsmethoden liegen übergreifende Schwerpunkt von Forschung und Lehre in den

Bereichen Migration (z.B. Diasporaforschung interethnische Konflikte, Minderheiten, urbane Ethnizitäten), Mensch-Umwelt Beziehungen (z.B. Biodiversität, lokale Auswirkungen des Klimawandels, globale Konkurrenz um natürlich Ressourcen) und sozialen Netzwerken und sozialer Sicherheit (z.B. transnationale soziale Netzwerke, soziale Sicherheit und Armut). Aus dem gegenwartsbezogenen Forschungsinteresse der Ethnologie lässt sich eine Vielfalt von Praxisbezügen ableiten (u.a. Entwicklungszusammenarbeit, Touristik, Sozialarbeit, medizinische Betreuung von Migranten, internationale Organisationen, diplomatischer Dienst etc.). Die regionalen Lehr- und Forschungsinteressen der Institutsmitarbeiter reichen von Thailand über das südliche Afrika und Lateinamerika bis Europa. So kann das Hamburger Institut für Ethnologie eine große thematische und regionale Breite in der Lehre anbieten.

Job Opportunities in the Project “Climate Emotions,” Cluster of Excellence “Climate, Climatic Change, and Society (CLICCS)” The anthropological project “Climate Emotions” investigates how people in different contexts emotionally respond to climate change and what consequences these responses entail. April haben wir Apostolos Andrikopoulos zu Gast mit einem Vortrag mit dem Titel „As Brothers We Love One Another: Relational Work in Identity Loan Practice Among Unauthorized African Migrants“. NB: Ab diesem Semester beginnt das Kolloquium pünktlich um 18:00 Uhr!

We are pleased to announce the first speaker in this summer’s Anthropology Colloquium. Apostolos Andrikopoulos will present a talk titled “As Brothers We Love One Another: Relational Work in Identity Loan Practice Among Unauthorized African Migrants.” The lecture will take place on Tuesday, April 14, at 6:00 PM in the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Seminar Room 222 (ESA West). Please note that, starting this term, the colloquium will begin promptly at 6:00 PM. We kindly ask you to arrive on time.
