of HafenCity University together with Urban Design and the Faculty of Architecture, Helwan University are tailoring a series of workshops to examine the interdisciplinary nature of the term ‘Urban Transformation’ from all its angles: political, social, planning and technical backgrounds. The REAP “International Development” seminar examines the complex role of instruments and driving forces of loc

al and international cooperation currently shaping urban development in Cairo. REAP focuses specifi cally on the emerging challenges and opportunities laden in the implementation of sustainable technologies and infrastructure in the urban environment. We invite you to contribute your analyses for neighborhood transformation within the context of international development in Cairo. The Resource Efficiency in Architecture and Planning (REAP) Master of Science faculty of HafenCity University (HCU) in Hamburg, Germany is currently accepting papers for 10 workshop positions from Oct. 1st – 14th 2012 within REAP’S “International Development – Cairo Urban Transformation” seminar. The topic of uncovering ‚Neighborhood adaptation‘ through a case study project located in Cairo’s AL DARB AL AHMAR district, will investigate the role of international development partners and instruments in Cairo via the implementation of sustainable technologies in cooperation with partners in Hamburg and Egypt. The main emphasis lies on technology for the provision of sustainable infrastructure and the diverse roles, challenges and opportunities for international cooperation.
