What connects IoT, AI and international research? 💡

At our next SIBE Alumni Talk, SIBE alumnus Dr. Marius Huber will share how his career took him from IoT project management at Deutsche Telekom through research into consumer behavior, innovation acceptance and AI to the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, one of Germany’s largest foundations supporting education and research.

Today, Marius works on international research partnerships with universities including Stanford and ETH Zurich. He will reflect on key career milestones, challenge-tested lessons and insights into future-facing technologies.

🔭 How can topics for a Delphi study be systematically selected?

At the 20th Symposium on Foresight and Technology Planning in Berlin, Dr. Ineke Blumenthal presented the contribution “A Practical Guide to Selecting Delphi Projections” that she developed together with Prof. Dr. Stefanie Kisgen and Dr. Anna-Vanadis Faix as part of Session 8.

In foresight, the challenge is often not finding future signals – but deciding which ones deserve closer attention. Drawing on SIBE’s experience from various Delphi-based foresight projects, they shared practical insights into how organizations can systematically explore potential future topics and subsequently prioritize and narrow them down for focused discussion in a Delphi study. 💡

Under the theme “Foresight in Times of Radical Uncertainty,” the symposium brought together experts from business and research to discuss methods, practical experiences and new perspectives on strategic product and technology planning.

A special thank you to Prof. Dr.-Ing. Roman Dumitrescu and Prof. Dr. Katharina Hölzle for hosting the symposium and creating a valuable forum for insightful discussions and exchange between business and research. 🤝

🌍 From knowledge to action – connecting global perspectives on climate resilience.

On October 6–7, 2026, the University of Manchester symposium “From Knowledge to Action: Transforming Higher Education for Climate Resilience” brought together colleagues from around the world. We enjoyed meeting so many inspiring people and exchanging perspectives on how higher education can support meaningful action. 🤝

🎤 Prof. Dr. Stefanie Kisgen, CEO of SIBE & AME ECH, presented “Reflective Transfer Through Leadership Education in Higher Education: Real-world Innovation Projects for Climate Resilience”.

Her key message: Leadership education in higher education contributes to climate resilience when students do more than understand change. It should enable them to translate theoretical knowledge into responsible and ethical action in unfamiliar, open-ended real-world contexts. By practicing how to lead innovation and change and reflecting on the consequences of their actions, students learn to apply what they have learned in new contexts – contributing positively to nature, climate resilience, society and organizations. 🌱

Thank you to Prof. Dr. Walter Leal Filho, Prof. Dr. Juup Stelma and Prof. Dr. Jen O’Brien for their valuable insights, and to Dr. Heather Alberro for moderating the session.

🚀 People drive innovation – especially when technological transformation is supported by the right talent and competencies.

On September 29, 2026, representatives from the Plattform Umwelttechnik (PU) and Forum Luft- und Raumfahrt
Baden-Württemberg (LR BW) came together at HPM Technologie GmbH in Dettingen an der Erms for an afternoon of cross-industry exchange.

As part of the program, Dr. Ineke Blumenthal delivered an impulse titled “People Drive Innovation – Talent as a Success Factor in Technological Transformation.”

Her contribution highlighted the essential role people play in turning technological developments into innovation and explored why attracting and developing talent is a key success factor for organizations navigating change. 💡

The program also offered insights into HPM Technologie’s work in the aerospace sector, perspectives on recycling and emerging technologies and a guided company tour. The concluding get-together provided further opportunities to connect across industries and continue the discussions. 🤝
