Dear members of the university,

we are pleased to introduce a new sustainability initiative at the Umwelt‑Campus: the Edding Return Box. This collection box allows you to recycle empty markers, highlighters, whiteboard pens, and other writing instruments – a small action with a meaningful impact on resource conservation and circular material use.

The boxes have already been placed at three accessible locations on campus:

📍 Building 9915 – collection area
📍 Library 24/7 area – first floor

What can be deposited?
All empty or used writing instruments such as markers, highlighters, fineliners, whiteboard pens, permanent markers, and ballpoint pens (no batteries or electronic components).

Why does it matter?
Many pens are made of high‑quality plastics that can be recycled and reused. By participating in the Edding initiative, we collectively help reduce waste and support a more sustainable circular economy.

The Green Office is responsible for coordinating the initiative, including monitoring the boxes and handling the return process.

We warmly invite you to drop off your empty pens at one of the boxes and contribute to sustainability on our campus.

The Green Office warmly invites you to our Flea Market!

If you have items that deserve a new home, you are welcome to register for your own stall. You don’t need to stay the whole time just indicate in the form during which time slot you want to be at your stall :)

🍽 New this semester: Food stalls
This time, you can also offer food. To keep everyone safe, please:
- send us your recipe or ingredient list in advance
- display the ingredient list clearly at your stall so people with allergies are informed

🚲 Dear Cycling Friends,

We are excited to invite you to this semester’s cycling tour - this time with a special focus on the Theme Trail „Nature and Environmental Technology“ around the Umwelt-Campus and towards Birkenfeld.

Along the 1.2 km loop around the campus and the 5 km forest path to Birkenfeld, you will find 32 information boards that highlight how nature and technology interact in our region. During the tour, we will explore selected stations together and discover what makes this trail so unique.
To make the experience even more interactive, we’re turning the tour into a little discovery game:

🪴 Pick-a-Board-Challenge
Everyone joining the tour chooses one information board from the trail and becomes the „expert“ for that station.
Your mission: Give the group a short, friendly explanation of what your board is about. No pressure at all; this is not a presentation. It’s simply about sharing something interesting you found. And if a board seems too technical or confusing, don’t worry; we’ll figure it out together during the tour.

We have already prepared a few boards, but you are welcome to choose any station from the list.

🍦 A Sweet Reward
As a small thank-you for taking the time to explore a board and share it with the group, we will end the tour with ice cream at Eiscafé Venezia; our treat from the Green Office. Think of it as your reward for completing the „Pick-a-Board Challenge“.💚

Whether you’re passionate about sustainability, enjoy cycling or simply want to discover something new, everyone is warmly invited to join.
