In 2024, students from a wide range of degree programmes once again came together and had the opportunity to experience China up close. Together with seven students and two accompanying persons, the group travelled through important cities such as Beijing, Zhengzhou, Lanzhou and Xi’an over 11 days. They visited seven companies and two universities and immersed themselves in China’s fascinating culture. While Germany is often regarded as a pioneer in quality and automation, the students were particularly impressed by China’s efficiency, mobility and relational thinking. From wide roads with separate lanes for bicycles, e-scooters and buses to impressive high-speed trains, China’s innovations and hospitality left lasting impressions. ‘This trip has enriched us with valuable knowledge, new experiences and contacts that go far beyond the Master’s thesis,’ says program manager Maria Kohl. In contrast to a private trip, the students benefit from a unique network and gain exclusive insights behind the scenes. Our linguist program manager, who has studied in China herself, also provides valuable background information during the trip.
