ℹ️ MEASURES AGAINST CORONA AT OUR FACULTY ℹ️
Our Faculty is taking the following steps to prevent the Corona virus from spreading.
1. Until further notice, the Office of Study Affairs remains closed for face-to-face consultations. Urgent matters can be handled through email or over the phone. We will be available on the phone during our regular contact hours. www.chemie.uni-leipzig.de/en/studies-applications/office-for-study-affairs
2. Until further notice, Ms. Mann’s office (Johannisallee 29, room 132) remains closed, i.e. equipment damages cannot be paid at this moment.
3. If you need to hand in your Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis, you can do so through email to the Office of Study Affairs. We will forward your thesis to the respective reviewers. The printed copies can be handed in to the Office of Study Affairs and confirmed at a later point in time.
4. Until further notice, no audience is admitted for defenses of a thesis (Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree) and for defenses of laboratory courses. Our exam regulations state that for defending only two reviewers entrusted by the examination board need to be present.
5. As of today, exams will be carried out as scheduled. The Faculty teachers are asked to ensure the exam room is big enough to allow for at least two meters distance between the students. On exam day, the exam room will be open ahead of time.
Leipzig University’s rector Prof. Beate Schücking has stressed that students should refrain from travelling to Leipzig for exams. If you should not be able to take an exam because of that you will be given the oportunity to take the exam at a later point in time during the summer semester 2020. Likewise, parents who could not secure proper care for their child, can take the exam at a later point in time during the summer semester 2020. Please sign off the exam list with the Office of Study Affairs as well as with the responsible teacher, if you cannot take currently scheduled exams for one of the above mentioned reasons.
All other students are free to take their repeat exams at a later point in time. This is in accordance with our exam regulations which state that upon failing a module exam, it must be repeated within one year.
6. Practical details regarding classes cannot be given at this point in time.
7. We are currently discussing whether ongoing thesis projects (Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree) can be prolonged. More details are expected to be made available in the course of this week.
