The goal of the oldest business school in German-speaking Europe is to educate entrepreneurial, responsible and effective business leaders. HHL stands out for its excellent teaching, its clear research focus, its effective knowledge transfer into practice as well as its outstanding student services. Study programs include a Master in Management program, with possible specializations in Entrepreneurship or Finance, as well as an MBA program. Programs can be completed full-time or part-time. HHL also runs a Doctoral Program. The HHL Executive Education offers state-of-the-art management seminars for executive talents. Besides its main campus in Leipzig, the university maintains study locations in Cologne and Munich. HHL is accredited by AACSB International and ACQUIN.

What does it actually take to turn an idea into a product? 💡

That was the question behind the HHL ProtoLab Demo Day on campus a few days ago.

Batch #3 showed their work through live demos and prototypes you could actually pick up and try.

The key takeaway: turning an idea into a product means showing people what still doesn't work, not just what does.

Got a startup that never made it past Stage One or never got the chance to try?🚀

The Wildcards are a second door into the largest pan-European university start-up competition — a direct route to Berlin, no University Round required.

This year, four industry partners are opening that door:
→ ⚙️ Data and Physical Intelligence Wildcard by Siemens
For startups building the next generation of industrial, infrastructure, or mobility solutions at the intersection of hardware and industrial AI.
→ 💡 Impact Wildcard by better ventures
For startups tackling social or environmental challenges — planet or people — with impact at the core of the business model.
→ 👩‍💼 Female Team Wildcard by SectorPi
For startups with at least one female founder in a top management position (CEO, CTO, or equivalent).
→ 🔬 exist Wildcard
For exist-funded startups ready to take their innovation to Europe's leading startup stage.

Three startups per Wildcard get to pitch live at "A Final Quest" on October 21 in Berlin, hosted by Gateway Factory and hubraum.

An on-site jury decides who takes the Wildcard and moves on to .io on October 23 — the pan-European final for the best startups spinning out of leading universities.

If you're building something right now at HHL — or you already are as an alumnus or alumna — this is your shortcut to the main stage of Europe's startup ecosystem.

Among the many highlights of our festive Graduation Ceremony on August 22, we were especially proud to celebrate two members of the HHL community who went above and beyond: Alvaro Fernandez (full-time MBA) and Adrian Seng (full-time Master in Management | Finance) received this year's Schmalenbach Scholar Award 🏅

Presented annually by the GdF – Gesellschaft der Freunde der HHL e.V., this €1,000 honor recognizes students who combine academic excellence with real commitment to the HHL community.
