🇪🇺 Hallo! 🇩🇪 Szia! 🇭🇺 Hej! 🇩🇰 Salut! 🇫🇷 ASF - Animation Sans Frontières 2022/2023 has officially begun.

ASF is a training program for junior European animation film and production professionals. It consists of several modules that take place at four different schools all across Europe. It started last week at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and its Animationsinstitut 🎊

A group of up to 16 young European animation artists, producers, scriptwriters and technical directors travel two weeks to each school. They undergo the entire animation film production process, from concept development till financing, production management, marketing and distribution.

🎓Graduated from Animationsinstitut in July and now already back as a lecturer: Give it up for Arne Hain 👏

Last week, Arne taught the basics of stop-motion to some of our students. The former animation student specialized in this detail-orientated handcraft. In fact, Arne was even working in Phil Tippett's team for STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER as well as MAD GOD during his studies at Animationsinstitut.

Our Interactive Media alumna Lea Schönfelder co-founded Fein Games, a game studio on a mission to develop casual games with a female perspective.

Lea already explored that approach in her diploma game PERFECT WOMAN eight years ago. Women are expected to balance career, family, s*x and many other aspects of life while being "perfect". By playing the game, it turns out that it's not always possible to be perfect in every phase of life, and that's perfectly fine.

Interactive Media stands for startups 🚀 After his studies at Animationsinstitut, Jan Fiess founded a company with the goal to build interactive climbing walls. For this, the team of Rocky Motion has developed special climbing holds that should be ready for the market this winter.

Typical climbing gyms offer a restricted number of climbing routes. But what if the holds could glow in different colors and, thus, enable a plethora of routes without rebuilding the whole wall? This was the initial idea behind Rocky Motion. 💡

One week till XR WEEK 2022 starts and we are on the program!

XR plays a key role at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and its Animationsinstitut. Therefore, on September 15, Constanze Bühner, head of studies at Animationsinstitut, will first introduce you to the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg GmbH as a whole at XR WEEK. Then, our Interactive Media students Nina Weilbaecher, Konstantin Schraps, and Eddy Schäfer take over to talk about their usage of XR within their program.

Directly afterwards, Volker Helzle will join to discuss research and development concerning XR at the Filmakademie. Project manager at FMX Mario Müller will conclude the panel by showcasing the importance of XR at FMX.

Dealing with the subject of death is considered one of the last social taboos. Yet, mourning is "an incredibly powerful emotion that is just as intense as love," says Ella Estrella Tischa Raetzer.

Interactive Media stands for transmedia projects 📽️🕹️ Combining various forms of media to create a whole new piece of art—that’s what the team behind CYBERCITY LOVESTORY wants to achieve.

Remember Animationsinstitut’s alumnus Eddy Schäfer from earlier this week? He works as a game designer on CYBERCITY LOVESTORY, a mixture between TV series and virtual reality game.
