Rund 180 geladene Gäste aus , und Gesellschaft feierten am 20. Mai den der Universität Mannheim im Rittersaal des Schlosses. Die Veranstaltung würdigte nicht nur außergewöhnliche Verdienste um die Universität, sondern bot auch einen Ausblick auf die strategische Weiterentwicklung in , und .🎉👩🎓
Ein wichtiger Punkt 🎯in der Rede von Uni-Rektor Prof. Dr. Thomas Fetzer war die Stärkung der Forschung an der Universität Mannheim durch die Einrichtung eines Center for Advanced Studies ( ) und eines internen Förderprogramms, das Inkubationsräume für schaffen soll. 🥇
Mit Blick auf die aktuellen globalen Entwicklungen verwies der Rektor auf die gesellschaftliche Verantwortung von Wissenschaft und Universitäten. Demokratien stünden weltweit unter Druck, internationale Konflikte nähmen zu und Wissenschaftler*innen sowie Wissenschaftsinstitutionen sähen sich in vielen Ländern massiven Einschränkungen und Anfeindungen ausgesetzt. „All das motiviert uns als Universität, durch Forschung, Lehre und den Dialog mit , und dazu beizutragen, anstehende erfolgreich zu gestalten – und damit zur der Gesellschaft, demokratischer Institutionen, der Wirtschaft und auch der Individuen beizutragen“, so Fetzer. 🧐
Im Rahmen der Veranstaltung wurden zudem drei Universitätsmedaillen verliehen: an Klaus Greinert, Initiator des Spitzensportstipendiums Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar, an die Linguistin und Mehrsprachigkeitsforscherin Prof. Dr. Rosemarie Tracy und an den langjährigen Präsidenten der Mannheim Business School (MBS), Prof. Dr. Jens Wüstemann. 👏
Der von Fabienne Partsch an der Harfe musikalisch begleitete Abend wurde durch einen Festvortrag zum Thema „ “ des Politikwissenschaftlers Prof. Dr. Thomas Bräuninger abgerundet und fand bei einem Get together im Gartensaal seinen geselligen Ausklang. 🍷

On 20 May, approximately 180 invited guests from industry, academia, and the local community celebrated the University of Mannheim’s Universitätstag in the Rittersaal of the Schloss. The event not only honored exceptional contributions to the university but also provided an outlook on its strategic development in , , and .🎉
A key point 🎯in the speech by University President Prof. Dr. Thomas Fetzer was the strengthening of research at the University of Mannheim through the establishment of a Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) and an internal funding program designed to create incubation spaces for collaborative research.
👏With an eye on current global developments, the President highlighted the social responsibility of science and universities. are under pressure worldwide, international conflicts are on the rise, and scientists as well as scientific institutions are facing massive restrictions and hostility in many countries. “All of this motivates us as a university to contribute, through research, teaching, and dialogue with , , and the community, to successfully shaping upcoming transformation processes—and thereby to the resilience of society, democratic institutions, the economy, and also individuals,” said Fetzer.
During the event, three university medals were also awarded: to Klaus Greinert, initiator of the Elite Sports Scholarship Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region; to linguist and multilingualism researcher Prof. Dr. Rosemarie Tracy; and to the long-time president of the Mannheim Business School (MBS), Prof. Dr. Jens Wüstemann.👏👏
The evening, accompanied musically by Fabienne Partsch on the harp, was rounded off by a keynote lecture on the topic of “information warfare” by political scientist Prof. Dr. Thomas Bräuninger and concluded with a convivial get-together in the Gartensaal.🍷
