๐ Does AI just make existing financial models more efficient, or does it force a fundamental shift in the business model itself?
This question was at the heart of ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ง๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ต ๐๐ถ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ: ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐-๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ, a panel discussion organized by our students Marcel Gilg, Manuel Sauer, and Moritz Vรถgl, which brought together participants from the ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ & ๐๐ป๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ (๐๐๐ ) ๐๐น๐๐บ๐ป๐ถ ๐๐๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป and Manage and More by UnternehmerTUM GmbH.
The panel featured:
๐น Tim Friederich, CFA, Head of risklab, Allianz Global Investors
๐น Lars Wederhake, Founder, credium
๐น Edmund Hoischen, Financial Services Lead, Amazon Web Services Germany
๐น Christina Halemba, Customer Engineer, Google Cloud
๐น Max Sina Knicker, Co-Founder, QFT Analytics
๐น Ioannis Georgopoulos, Finance Lead, Entrix
Several key themes emerged throughout the discussion:
โช๏ธ In established organizations, AI often starts as an efficiency gain before creating new revenue opportunities.
โช๏ธ For AI-native companies, that distinction barely exists.
โช๏ธ AI itself is not alpha. Competitive advantage increasingly comes from proprietary data, well-designed processes, domain expertise, and customer trust.
โช๏ธ Several panelists challenged the narrative that AI is eliminating entry-level roles, pointing instead to growing demand for AI-native junior talent.
โช๏ธ Looking ahead, the panel pointed to Physical AI, robotics, and cybersecurity as key areas to watch.
A big thank you to all panelists for sharing their perspectives and to everyone who joined the conversation.
Weโre especially proud to see our students creating spaces where academia, industry, and entrepreneurship intersect to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of finance. ๐
