You are currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree in Wirtschaftsinformatik (Information Systems)? While most of our students are still enjoying their semester break, there is still much happening at . Our chair for example is teaching the seminar “TS410 Integrated Business Processes in SAP S/4HANA”, where we prepare participants from various disciplines to explain the fundamental integrated business processes of S/4HANA. And for the first time, we are conducting this training virtually as a webinar this term!
Während die meisten unserer Studierenden noch immer ihre Semesterferien genießen, ist an der Universität hinter den Kulissen immer noch viel los. Unser Lehrstuhl unterrichtet zum Beispiel das Seminar “TS410 Integrated Business Processes in SAP S/4HANA”, in dem wir die Teilnehmenden aus verschiedenen Disziplinen darauf vorbereiten, die grundlegenden integrierten Geschäftsprozesse von S/4HANA zu erklären. Und zum ersten Mal führen wir diese Schulung in diesem Semester virtuell als Webinar durch!

Heute war der erste Termin unserer Online-Meetups für Studieninteressierte, welchen wir zusammen mit Prof. Dr. Sven Laumer und der FSI Wirtschaftsinformatik gehalten haben.

Teilnehmer konnten sich live über Zoom zur Vorstellung des Bachelorstudiengangs Wirtschaftsinformatik dazuschalten. Im Anschluss konnten Fragen an Professoren und Studierendenvertretern gestellt werden. Vielen Dank an alle, die teilgenommen haben!

The final presentations of Process Analytics have successfully completed in cooperation with NIVONA

The Chair of Digital Industrial Service Systems has launched a cooperation with NIVONA, a Nürnberg-based premium vendor of coffee machines.
In the final presentations of the Process Analytics course, students analyzed the data that NIVONA provided, they presented their key findings on potentials for process improvement and recommendations for a possible action plan in order to improve Nivona’s customer service process.
Below some excerpts of the students' presentations. We hope that this success story will lead to further cooperations with industry within our research domain of Process Analytics!

The registration of the training of TS410 - Integrated Business Process in SAP S/4 HANA is now open!

This summer semester the training of “TS410” will take place between 30th March to 9th of April as a block seminar.

Students will be offered the opportunity to get to know the way crucial business process (production, financial accounting, etc.) interact with SAP TS410. The course will be held in English.

Course fee (including the materials) is €300 for students of FAU and €450 for external students and the certification fee of €125 (plus taxes) is needed to be paid directly to SAP.

Please note that the course is limited to 25 participants and is only open to enrolled students in a university program.

Don’t miss out the last TOBI Talk of the winter semester which will be on January 20th at 15:30 with yet another exciting topic: The Attraction Effect in Reward-Based Crowdfunding

Have you ever wondered how people judge, decide and behave in online environments for example in crowdfunding platforms and its effects on the platforms?

In the last session of TOBI Talks of the Winter Semester, we will get the chance to learn more about the effect of the design of rewards in crowdfunding platforms on backers’ decisions.

The different aspects that affect crowdfunding success have already explored however, the design of rewards has not been studied genuinely. Dr. Weinmann will present the research that he and his colleagues conducted in which the attraction effect in reward-based crowdfunding was tested in a series of experiments. Their study shows that backers’ decisions are fairly affected by even modest changes to reward menus. Hence, they deduce that the design of crowdfunding platforms has the potential to increase the success probability of crowdfunding projects.

Dr. Weinmann will also address the research and practical implications of the study for the design of crowdfunding platforms. The talk will be on 20th January at 15:30.

Explore Process Mining with NÜRNBERGER Versicherung – An Inspiring Guest Lecture on 22nd of January at 11:30 in LG H5!

On 22nd of January we will have the opportunity to host Dr. Maria Alexandrova and Dirk Petrautzki from NÜRNBERGER Versicherung for an inspirational guest lecture: Process Mining for Digital Transformation in the Insurance Industry.

Join us to enhance your knowledge about use cases for process analytics and discover how NÜRNBERGER Versicherung apply process mining to master digital transformation.

Dr. Alexandrova and Mr. Petrautzki will address the applications of process optimization with Celonis, will share insights into the areas that process mining is being applied and will outline the outcomes and goals for 2020.

The guest lecture will be in English.

We are looking forward to diving deeper into the world of process mining and learning more from the practical implications together with you!

An inspiring start to 2020 – The Chair of Digital Industrial Service Systems is at 53rd HICSS!

Matthias Stierle represented the Chair of Digital Industrial Service Systems at The Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) from January 6th to 10th and presented the paper “A next click recommender system for web-based service analytics with context-aware LSTMs”. The study was carried out and co-authored by three of our researchers; Sven Weinzierl, Matthias Stierle, Sandra Zilker and our chairholder Prof. Dr. Martin Matzner.

The study introduces a technique for a next click recommender system, which is based on long short-term memory (LSTM) neural networks. The paper is presented in the conference as part of the “Service Analytics Minitrack” hosted by Hansjörg Fromm and Niklas Kühl from KIT Germany, Gerhard Satzger from IBM Germany and Thomas Setzer from KU Ingolstadt.

HICSS is an annual conference for Information Systems and Information Technology organized by the University of Hawaii at Manoa Shidler College of Business. It is one of the deep-rooted scientific communities in the information systems discipline.

We are glad to be part of the conference among the other cutting-edge researches and to get the chance of exchanging ideas in inspiring discussions with esteemed scholars and professionals.
