𝙀𝙫𝙖'𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙖𝙗𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙙: 𝙖 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩'𝙨 𝙟𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮 🇬🇷
🇬🇷 🌍 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀: Athens is a vibrant city with a mix of ancient history and modern city life. Wherever you go, you´ll meet interesting people and have great conversations. Additionally, both the beach and the mountains are nearby.
✅ 𝗧𝗼-𝗗𝗼𝘀: Since Greece is part of the EU, there are no special requirements before your stay, most of it is covered through the Erasmus process. Depending on your internship organization, they might ask you for a Transcript of Records.
🏠 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Athens has plenty of accommodation options for mid- and long-term stays, but many places have a minimum rental period of three months. Useful platforms to find housing can be HousingAnywhere, ELA Housing, or other student accommodation websites.
🤝 𝗠𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: I was working at Velos Youth NGO. If you're interested in Social Work, Athens has many NGOs and social organizations that are happy to welcome international interns. If you´re interested in other fields, there are opportunities in international companies and technical organizations as well.
🌞 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲: One of my favorite things to do was spending the evenings in a cozy taverna with good music and delicious food. If you like to be active outdoors I can recommend hiking in the mountains nearby. For a long weekend, you can easily take a ferry to one of the islands, such as Aegina or Serifos that are not far from Athens.

Halfway through the Ohm International Summer School 2026 - we ended the first week with a wonderful daytrip to Rothenburg ob der Tauber! ☀️

We explored the charming old town on a guided tour full of fascinating stories and legends, enjoyed traditional Franconian cuisine, and had time to explore and snap some pictures. 🫶🏻🍻

Rothenburg greeted us with sunshine all day - a perfect outing in a picture-perfect town! 📸☀️

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱—𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗰𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆.
To kick off the Applied Cyber Defense: From Intrusion Analysis to Incident Response course at our Ohm International Summer School, participants explored the historic defenses of Nuremberg. From fortified walls and towers to strategic gateways, they discovered how the city protected its people centuries ago.
This fascinating journey through history provided the perfect introduction to a modern challenge: defending digital infrastructure against cyber threats.
While the nature of attacks has changed, the need for protection remains the same. ⚔️➡️💻

A close partnership connects the Ohm and the City of Nuremberg (Stadt Nürnberg). 🤝

We're pleased that the Ohm-ISS participants had the opportunity to enjoy a warm welcome at the City Hall on Tuesday, 21 July. On this occasion, they also learned about EuropeDirect, the EU's information network that helps bring Europe closer to its citizens. 🇪🇺

A thank you goes to Jasmin Kaiser (EUROPE DIRECT Nürnberg) and Thomas Winning for their time and a lovely reception! 💫

🎓 Starting in winter semester 2026/27, the Ohm is offering a new M.A. programme in Circular Economy and Resilient Food Systems! 🎓
🌱 This three-semester master’s programme aims to expand traditional business administration through an interdisciplinary perspective and to promote the transformation towards sustainable corporate management and holistic management approaches — with a particular focus on food systems. The programme focuses on forward-looking solutions for resource efficiency and supply security. It combines perspectives from business, natural sciences, and society. 🌍
📘 Students develop expertise in circular economy, sustainable corporate management, resource-efficient food production, value chains, sustainability marketing, and transformation and innovation management. Project-based work ensures a strong practical orientation and enables students to engage with real-world challenges at an early stage. Mentors from both practice and academia, together with close personal supervision, provide comprehensive support and prepare students for a subsequent doctorate or a career in business. 🤝
🔬 The programme is characterised by a close connection between theory and practice. Students benefit from the programme’s affiliation with the Ohm’s interdisciplinary competence center, K.NER, which specialises in sustainable business.
🚀 Graduates can pursue a wide range of career paths, for example in companies within the food and resource sectors, in consulting and management, in research institutions, public authorities, and startups.

In summer semester 2026 IB student Marleen did an internship in Amsterdam.
📍 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺? | My first choice was actually Spain, but I didn’t get an internship there. Looking back, I couldn’t be happier that I ended up in Amsterdam. The mix of city life, nature, beaches, and being close to Germany made it the perfect place for my first internship abroad. 🌊🌷
🏠 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 | This was definitely the hardest part. Rent is very expensive, and many rooms are only offered for short-term stays, which makes finding long-term accommodation difficult. In the end, I was lucky enough to find a private studio through a Facebook group. My biggest piece of advice: stay patient and don’t give up. 🙏🏽
💻 𝗠𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 | I did my internship in the German Sales Team at Loopper. You get responsibility very quickly and work towards goals. The best part, though, was the team. Everyone got along really well and it felt more like working with friends than just colleagues, which made going to work every day a lot of fun. 🫶🏼
🌞 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 |After work I spent a lot of time cycling around the city, trying new food spots, visiting the beaches, going to the gym, taking Hot Pilates classes, and exploring as much of the Netherlands as possible. 🚴🍽️
🤝 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝘀 | Most of my time was spent with the German and French Sales Team, but I also worked with Dutch colleagues. Outside of work, I mostly had short conversations in cafés, bars, or at the gym. 🫂
💸 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 | Amsterdam is definitely more expensive than Germany, especially when it comes to rent. Groceries and restaurants also cost a bit more. However, outside of the city center it gets cheaper.
💫 𝗠𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 | It’s hard to choose just one moment. My highlight was the whole experience. Meeting new people, growing professionally and personally, and living in a city that I genuinely enjoyed every single day. One of the things I’ll miss the most is the relaxed lifestyle and the positive, easy-going attitude of the Dutch. It made living here even more special. 🇳🇱🩷
