We; the students, alumni, members of the institute, and our partners will jointly present research, our initiatives, and our people, and share our ideas and plans, to strengthen our network, and jointly engage in shaping the future of the institute and the study program of cognitive science.

We therefore invite you to join the CogSci Space Day on Saturday 18th of November 2023.

We are expecting an exciting, intense, and fun afternoon, with plenty of space to enjoy and engage the colorful facets of cognitive science in Osnabrück. For the program of the evening, we have assembled a core that includes several Alumni and partners as well as members of the institute that will bridge the past 25years to the future of the IKW. We are especially thankful to have our Alumni and science writer Iris Proff as a moderator for the event.

At the same time, since we want to jointly shape this event as much as possible, and invite and encourage you to contribute! Please think about offering a workshop for the BarCamp session, or to contribute to the events “This is US” or “Science on stage”, and send us your first ideas before 17th of September using this form: https://forms.gle/73pp4W8pULqSttzL6 or contact us via mail: [email protected] . There will be a second call in September to refine the program.

We are very excited, and we can't wait to hear your suggestions!

You can contribute to three events:
1. BarCamp sessions on “Science, Creativity and Fun”: Workshops that cover the colorful diversity of our Cognitive Science community. We are looking for Workshops that can be scientific but also creative, sportive, fun, explorative, communicative, anything you can think of.
2. Science Convention “This is us”: we welcome you to present your research group, student initiative, related organization, and ideas. Here, all students and members of the Institute of Cognitive Science, and associates will get space to present. We will have demos, posters, and other activities.
3. Science on stage: Several short and entertaining presentations (e.g. science slam) on cutting-edge, Cognitive Science related topics.

Within the framework of RISE Weltweit (Research Internships in Science and Engineering), the application for a research internship in Canada is already possible from August 10 to September 21, 2023.

The earliest start of the internship is in summer 2024.
The duration is 10 to 12 weeks.
The DAAD is cooperating here with the Canadian exchange organization Mitacs in the Globalink program.

The offer is aimed at bachelor's, diploma and state examination students from universities and universities of applied sciences
in the fields of natural and engineering sciences, medicine, psychology and computer science.
(Master's students are unfortunately not eligible to apply).

The scholarship holders receive
- a monthly DAAD full scholarship installment and
- a one-time travel allowance (both depending on the destination country).
- a health, accident and liability insurance.
- a local (Globalink) mentor.

Application for RISE Worldwide internships in Canada:
August 10 to September 21, 2023,
Internship period: 10 to 12 weeks,
earliest start date: May 1, 2024, latest start date July 31, 2024 (by arrangement).

RISE weltweit

The UOS CogSci is part of the DFG initiative for the preparedness for future pandemics. We start this today with 200 national and international Researchers at the DFG Research Conference Pandemics. The Event was opened by the DFG President Prof. Dr. Katja Becker.
The CogSci team is part based on two projects. One is doing Bayesian Regression for local forecasts, the second is using deep learning for parameter estimation of outbreaks models.

Im Rahmen von RISE Weltweit (Research Internships in Science and Engineering) ist die Bewerbung für ein Praktikum in Kanada bereits vom 11. August bis 22. September 2021 möglich. Frühester Praktikumsbeginn ist im Sommer 2022. Die Laufzeit beträgt 10 bis 12 Wochen. Der DAAD arbeitet hier mit der kanadischen Austauschorganisation Mitacs im Globalink Programm zusammen. Das Angebot richtet sich an Bachelor-, Diplom- und Staatsexamensstudierende von Universitäten und Fachhochschulen aus den Bereichen Natur- und Ingenieurwissenschaften, Medizin, Psychologie und Informatik.

Die Stipendiaten erhalten
• eine monatliche DAAD-Vollstipendienrate und

He has made a substantial impact on self-supervised RL by introducing curiosity as an intrinsic motivation for learning.
