Together with our partners, we are setting up new joint programmes that help shape more innovative, collaborative, and internationally recognised learning opportunities for students across Europe.

This achievement reflects the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment to building a more connected, innovative, and inclusive European Higher Education Area.

Applications are now open for the International Mentoring Programme within the ATHENAWORKS project!

If you're a student at one of the ATHENA European University partner institutions, this is your chance to:
🔹 develop your own research idea with the support of an international mentor,
🔹 improve your academic writing and publishing skills,
🔹 collaborate with students from across Europe,
🔹 join the Academic Skills Boost-Up Summer School,
🔹 contribute to a peer-reviewed scientific monograph.

📅 Application period: 1–31 July 2026

The mentoring programme will run from July 2026 to May 2027.

From Lublin to Orléans! 🚀

🇫🇷🇵🇱 As part of the study visit to University of Orléans, representatives of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin: International Cooperation Center, the Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of Law and Administration are taking part in a series of meetings focused on strengthening international cooperation within the ATHENA alliance. The visit is a part of the ATHENAWORKS project.

🔬 The visit provides an opportunity to exchange experiences, explore good practices in internationalisation, develop new institutional partnerships, and discuss opportunities related to European projects, research cooperation, and academic mobility. The programme includs meetings with university representatives and experts responsible for international development, partnerships, and initiatives connected with Horizon Europe and ATHENA activities.

✨ This visit marks the beginning of a broader series of international mobility activities planned under the project, with further study visits and engagement of UMCS staff scheduled in the coming months to continue strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange within the ATHENA Consortium.

The University of Siegen opened its doors for a lively Open University Day with 46 booths, interactive stations, live music, lectures, and food stands—offering a vivid insight into university life and its opportunities. 🌍

The ATHENA Alliance team from Siegen was present with the booth “Siegen in Europe – Europe in Siegen”, showcasing study and exchange opportunities across Europe for prospective students, students, and doctoral candidates.

🌍 Another inspiring ATHENA mobility in action!

Through the ATHENA Alliance, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University had the pleasure of hosting Prof. Angeliki N. Menegaki from Hellenic Mediterranean University as part of the Visiting Professor Programme implemented under the ATHENAWORKS project.

🤝 During her visit, Prof. Menegaki met with academic staff from the Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore new opportunities for cooperation within ATHENA.

🎓 She also delivered a guest lecture on sustainability and environmental economics, offering valuable insights into contemporary economic challenges, and taught students of the Business Analytics and Data Science programme, sharing her expertise in analytical thinking and data-driven decision-making.

✨ Visits like this demonstrate the impact of ATHENA beyond institutional partnerships – bringing together academics and students, fostering the exchange of knowledge, and strengthening collaboration across Europe.

✨ Collaboration, innovation, and new ideas at the University of Siegen! ✨

On June 10–11, the ATHENA Cluster Leaders from the the University of Orléans, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, and VILNIUS TECH came together at the University of Siegen to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships, and explore new opportunities for research and education.

The meeting focused on:
🌍 International collaboration
🔬 Research and innovation
🎓 Future educational opportunities
🤝 Stronger connections across the ATHENA Alliance

The programme included visits to the INCYTE Research Center, the Buschhütten campus, the Siegen Smart Demonstration Factory (), and , where participants discussed future projects and exciting possibilities for cooperation.

ATHENA’s activities are focused on four key clusters: Digitalisation for All, Sustainable Production, Health & Wellbeing, and Creative Industries.

🌍 Siegen in Europe – Europe in Siegen! 🌍

As part of Europe Day, the ATHENA Team at the University of Siegen welcomed students to our information booth on the Adolf-Reichwein Campus to explore the many opportunities offered by the ATHENA European University Alliance.

From short-term study abroad programmes and joint degrees to winter and summer schools, visitors discovered how ATHENA connects students with academic and professional opportunities across Europe. ✈️🎓

We were especially happy to be joined by students from the (Embedded Intelligence Nanosystems Engineering), who shared their experiences of international study, research, and student life.
