English Edu - Meet our Team - Mizz Kirsten
One day I was teaching grammar, which is really not everyone’s favorite subject, when I noticed that a student was having problems understanding. So, I tried a new way of explaining, hoping she would catch on. Then suddenly her eyes lit up. She had gotten the gist! After class she came by my desk and said: Mizz Kirsten, that was the first time I understood Present Perfect! And you know what? It’s really easy!
Moments like these make me love my job and they are proof that all students want to learn and that all students can feel the joy of learning.
Unfortunately, for many reasons some children are not able to keep up in class, start getting bored and then completely give up. Especially these children need more attention and understanding.
For others though, English might just be their subject and they make what I have taught them even bigger and better.
Starting to teach English in the year 2000, I have been blessed with the opportunity to accompany many students from their first steps in kindergarten courses up to graduating twelve years later. In these years I have watched students grow and prosper while not only being their teacher, but also being taught by them, which has kept me young at heart.
Having grown up in the US, I am an English native speaker. At the age of 16 my family moved to Germany where I graduated with an Abitur degree and studied veterinary medicine at the LMU here in Munich. After becoming a mother I had to rethink my work-family-life and did advanced training in teaching English to second language students.
That's when I founded English Education.
