Yesterday, we got to visit the company Janoschka in Kippenheim. They provided us a comprehensive overview of their business. From explaining each step of cylinder making, engraving, until Colour management, we deepened our knowledge and were able to get close insights to the processes.

A couple of days ago, some of us had the chance to visit Huhtamaki in Ronsberg. As one of the important companies in the rotogravure sector, they provided us an insightful visit. After the production tour, we know much more about the in-house film production, cylinder making and gravure printing presses. hdmstuttgart

Excursion Heidelberg

An exciting excursion to Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG in 2026! Together with our students, we experienced everything the world of print and packaging has to offer - from cutting-edge machinery and innovative technologies to real production insights. A hands-on day that brought print and packaging to life.

An insightful excursion to the pulp and paper mill offered a valuable industry perspective aligned with the Material Science I course. 🧪📄

Observing the complete value chain — from paper chemistry and pulp production to papermaking and finishing — provided a clear connection between theoretical principles and industrial application. The visit highlighted how material science concepts are implemented at scale within a real production environment. ⚙️🏭

A meaningful learning experience that bridged academic knowledge and professional practice. 🎓✨

On 3rd of December, representatives from Marmara University in Istanbul and the Turkish printing industry association BASEV visited the Print Media and Packaging Technologies programme at HdM.
The visit focused on exploring future academic and industry collaborations, at a time when Turkey’s printing sector continues to grow and position itself through highly innovative companies.

Marmara University is one of Turkey’s leading institutions, and exchange students from Istanbul have long contributed to the international character of the programme. Strengthening this partnership opens valuable opportunities for joint projects in education, research and industry engagement.

Students from the programme were present throughout the visit and welcomed the delegation on campus.

Special thanks to Mehmet Oğuz and Murat Demir for their presentations, and to rector Boris Alexander Kühnle for welcoming the guests.

Day 2 at Canon Germany was all about learning in action 🎛️✨
Students tried the machines themselves, printed their own samples, and followed the full digital printing workflow from setup to output 🖨️🔍
After a relaxed lunch break 🍽️, there was time to talk with the Canon team, hear real industry stories, and ask questions about careers, technology and everyday work inside the company 💬🤝
The day wrapped up on a great note — a memorable experience that students genuinely enjoyed.

Third- and fifth-semester students spent the first day at Canon Germany’s Technical Centre in Poing exploring a wide range of digital printing technologies and gaining hands-on insights into modern workflows ✨📍
The visit offered a real connection between classroom knowledge and industry practice, sparking curiosity and plenty of questions along the way 🔍🖨️
The day ended with a relaxed group dinner that gave everyone time to unwind, share impressions and reflect on everything learned 🍽️✨
A heartfelt thank-you goes to Canon for the warm hospitality and the inspiring start to this two-day experience 🙌
