A NEW CALL FOR AEC GLOBAL TEAMWORK PROJECT AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY

Project Content:
Basic ideas of research and education at the Project Based Learning Lab at Stanford University

Project Description:
The AEC Global Teamwork project is considered to be a project-based learning experience focused on identifying the practical side of the construction projects and the real life based activities that produce a product for the clients bringing together the academia, practitioners and students from different disciplines all over the world. The project engages such disciplines as architects, structural engineers, MEPs, construction managers and life-cycle financial managers (LCFM).
The AEC student teams work on a university building project. The project specifications include:
Building program requirements
Real world university campus site that provides local conditions and challenges for all the disciplines,
Budget for the construction of the building
Time for construction and delivery
The project is divided into two phases:
1. Winter phase (January-March 2017), when the concept of the building should be developed and
2. Spring phase (March/April-May 2017), when the project should be developed.
Project Schedule:
January 11 – all the selected students arrive in the Bay Area
January 12 – official kick-off
January 13-14-15 – Team building workshop – all students are required to participate in person at Stanford
January 16 (Mon) - all students travel back to their university
March 17 (Fri) – Cyber Team presentation - Winter Quarter Concept Development
May 12 Friday – Final AEC project presentation and celebration - all students are required to participate in person at Stanford.
It should be kept in mind that besides these days the project involves classes every Friday (Cyber spase) and active work during the whole duration of the project.
Project Assessment:
Active involvement, teamwork, weekly presentations, fishbowl session, final presentation.
The project can be selected both as a Student work as well as a Project with 12 ECTS (Das Projekt wird als Studienarbeit anerkannt. Die Auslandscredits sind mit dem Projekt erfüllt).
Application Process:

One page statement of purpose (300-350 words) on why you should be considered for this year AEC Global Teamwork program.
The deadline for the applications is October 30, 2016.
2. Interviews of the selected candidates in November, 2016 (the dates to be announced).
3. Selection of the successful candidates-December, 2016.
The selected candidates have to bear the costs for travelling to Stanford (for the kick off meeting and the final presentation). The information of possible support scholarships must be checked in the International Office.
