The new and interesting textbook on tourism and well-being is now ready! 😊📚

The book has been edited by visiting lecturer Melanie Kay Smith from the University of Tartu Pärnu College and visiting lecturer Henna Konu from the college.

📚 The book is perfect for tourism enthusiasts, students of our "Tourism and Hotel Management" curriculum, and master's students in the English-language "Design and Management of Well-being and Spa Services" curriculum.

🌿 The book examines the connections and importance of tourism and well-being to people's quality of life, happiness, and life satisfaction, which have been studied for decades. In recent years, interest in related relationships has grown exponentially, but research in this field has been fragmented.

📖 This year's collection, "A Research Agenda for Tourism and Wellbeing," is the first to provide a comprehensive, systematic, and engaging overview of these topics.

✨ STUDY TRIP ✨

👩‍🎓 First-year students of "Wellness and Spa Service Design and Management" visited Võiste Harbor and the Saviaugu Farm Museum as part of the course "Spa Catering and Catering Services Management".

🐟 In Võiste, they learned about the work of fishermen and how fresh herring reaches our table. At Saviauk, they learned how herring is smoked and how ancient Estonians made flour.

🌿 On the same day, the master's students also conducted a training on herbal teas grown in Estonia for the staff of Villa Ammende restaurant, discussing their health benefits.

🔍 Director of Pärnu College, Garri Raagmaa, expresses concern as in some areas, not even a quarter of residents live at their registered address. How can the state and local governments communicate with their citizens and plan infrastructure, school, and kindergarten places, if people do not actually reside at their registered address?

🏠This creates a situation where Tallinn benefits from extra funding because people register themselves as residents in the city to access free public transport and other benefits, even though they actually work or study elsewhere. Approximately 350,000–400,000 people spend time in more than one municipality every day.
