Could you explain please what kind of reports do I need to upload?

A:
Four reports are expected from every students to be finally graded: (1) PDF file on Electrical drive work 1; (2) PDF file on Electrical drive work 2; (3) PDF file on Robotics work 1 and (4) PDF file and MP4 file on Robotics work 5. Each report includes: a cover sheet, the task, initial data, program texts, model parameters, simulation or experimental plots, and conclusions.

A:
Upon completion all lab reports, your grade on EEV5040 will be equal to the rounded-up sum of your bonuses, without an exam. It follows from the assessment rules published in the first lecture: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1P-cEl7j9IYSBvbFrM0zIwBaRMJGG4Q44/view

You can achieve more by asking questions to the guest lecturer (0.1 score each question) on 7.12.2020, 12:00, NRG-422. The lecture topic: “ROS, or How to build your own robot?” At last, those who are not satisfied with his/her bonus may apply for an in-class exam in the same manner as TRY (https://moodle.taltech.ee/mod/quiz/view.php?id=327808). In this case, bonus is ignored (0).

Q:

1. According to many sources, the function of the actuator is to convert the hydraulic energy supplied by the pump and processed by the control elements into useful work. Since the hydraulic valve only controls the hydraulic fluid flow inside the circuit and produces no mechanical output is it correct to consider it a hydraulic actuator ?
2. Pneumatic systems definitely have leakage. Unlike hydraulic leakage the pneumatic system leakage is not harmful for the surrounding but is definitely present.

I missed the first quizzes. Could you please open them for me.

A:
Quizzes are your options: you can participate or ignore them. In any case, you may take the in-person exam in January in the form of the same quiz: 10 questions across the full course, without any complementary sources. To study for the exam, use the link TRY in AAV0060. All previous quizzes are open there with unlimited number of attempts and immediate feedback in the 5-score grading system. Submit all and finish as many times as you want. These training results do not affect your bonus, but help you to take an exam if you are not satisfied with your current grade.

I wonder if we have a lecture next month, or it's gonna be held online? The dean's office stated that distance learning takes place till the 20th of September, but I never received any updates regarding this yet.

A:
Yes. You are welcome to the in-class lecture , as well as exercises and labs. In practical classes, masks are encouraged.

Q:
I submitted my answers to the first quiz but cannot see the result.

A:
Results will appear on 19.09 midnight. At the same night, the second quiz starts. Until closing, you can produce other attempts. Only the last submitted result will be assessed.

Q:
Can I do my lab in some other day instead of the one indicated in the Lab Distribution file?

A:
You shouldn't. Follow your schedule please, since the number of students in teams is limited to 3 in terms of safety.

My preliminary grade in Moodle is 3. Does it mean that after 7.01.20 my final grade becomes 3 without exam?

A:
Sure! Visit the exam to get more (or less 😉) only if you are not satisfied it.

Q:
If I will come to the exam, is there a risk of getting a lower grade than my quiz score, or are these bonus points added to the examination score? Meaning I can try to improve the final grade, but my score is already guaranteed even if I decide to take the exam?

A:
If you decide to visit exam, your score will be zeroed before (quiz score is not the bonus, but a preliminary grade). As usual, every student has two attempts – exam and re-exam, in case of failing.

Q:
It has been unclear to me do I have to take exam in EEV5040 e-learning course even when my grades from quizzes satisfy me?

A:
No. As soon as you pass successfully 4 lab reports, your quiz grade becomes your final grade. If you failed reports, you need to correct and re-upload them. If you did not upload reports, you have to upload them. If you missed labs, you fail this course.

Does the scalar or vector control increase the breakdown torque?

A:
Passport breakdown torque is high in induction motor. It is no need to increase it.
