๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽ“"After graduating, I returned home to Ukraine, where I now work as a UX Designer. My education helped me secure a 50% salary increase. In Ukraine, the field of web accessibility is still emerging, providing me with ample opportunities to apply my acquired knowledge. The Master's Programme in Human-Computer Interaction degree is rare and comes with a certain level of responsibility. I understand how to create sustainable, efficient technology, and now I must consider how best to apply this knowledge. I highly recommend the HCI program to those who are passionate about technology and eager to learn how to apply it for sustainability. I look forward to meeting you at HCI meetups!" ๐Ÿคฉ

๐ŸคAt the beginning of November, a new research project between the Human-Computer Interaction group of Tallinn University, the School of Digital Technologies, and Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) started.

๐ŸŽฏThe main aim of the 5,5-year project is to set up a Human-Robot Interaction laboratory in Virumaa College which will serve local industry and will help students and teachers to get more familiar with the Human-Robot Interaction topic.

๐Ÿ“ŒProject coordinator from Tallinn University, School of Digital Technologies is Associate Professor of Interaction Design Sonia Sousa. HCI group researcher Mati Mรตttus and junior researcher Mustafa Can ร–zdemir will also contribute to the project. Good luck, colleagues!

UX researchersโ€™ MeetUp: โ€žWhen Academy meets Industryโ€œ

This Wednesday the students of the Human-Computer Interaction master program had a great chance to meet their future colleagues and employers from the industry. While UX design researchers from the most famous companies in the field had an opportunity to share their experiences and get some new ideas about UX in general from the perspective of an academic institution.
UX researchers' meetup at Tallinn University is happening already for the fourth time during this academic year. While the previous 3 meetups were organized for students and alumni of the HCI program to share knowledge, then this last meetup happened to be special. The event brought together HCI students and industrial UX researchers from 20 companies.

UX researcher Hanna-Stella Haaristo from the design agency Velvet had a presentation with the topic: โ€œDesign researcher in a design agency - who is that?โ€. The second talk was presented by our alumna and now Senior User Researcher at Veriff company Maria Vous. Mariaโ€™s topic was about building a research mindset in an organization aka โ€œHow to sell the need for you and your position?โ€

To conclude this exciting event with something really practical, lecturer of the School of Digital technologies Mati Mรตttus and junior research fellow Mustafa Can ร–zdemir demonstrated a facial expression analysis tool that HCI students use for usability testing.

We would like to thank everyone for participating. A lot more exciting meetups are coming soon!
