My Eco-Friendly Travel Choice for the Erasmus+ BIP Program
Hello! My name is Mert, and I am studying Creativity and Business Innovation at EUAS.
🌳Sustainability is something I am passionate about, and I love taking a part in different projects related to the topic and also even sometimes I am leading workshops about eco-friendly activities.
✈️I had the opportunity to join the Erasmus+ BIP program in Budapest, Hungary, focused on social sustainability and well-being. Once I accepted into the program, I started researching
transportation options to get there. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any direct flight from Tallinn to Budapest, so I started looking for alternatives.
It’s important to note that a direct flight usually has around 25% less CO2 emission compared to a flight with a layover. This is because each additional landings and departures requires more fuel, and layovers increase the overall distance traveled. For example, the CO2 saved by choosing a direct flight from Tallinn to Budapest instead of one with a layover. You can probably charge your phone more than 1000 times or driving around all over Tallinn multiple times multiple days. With this information that I had in my mind, I decided to take the direct flight from Tallinn to Vienna and get a bus from there to Budapest.
This choice maybe cause me to lose a couple more hours during the way there but it also helped me to travel as eco friendly as possible, which was my main priority.
After all, we only have one planet and better to protect it together
