This week we had the pleasure to host at Political Science - University of Tartu a group of 10 students and 3 instructors from Moldova State University / Universitatea de Stat din Moldova Facultatea Relaţii Internaţionale, Ştiinţe Politice şi Administrative a USM 🇲🇩 as part of the project supported by the Estonian Centre for International Development 🇪🇪 We had exciting seminars, inspiring conversations & study visits and now heading to Tallinn!

The new academic year has successfully started at Political Science - University of Tartu and our first year students are about to conclude to start their second study day in Tartu! 🥳

✨ 🎓 Happy start of the new academic year! 🎓 ✨

Today at 10 you are most welcome to join the festive opening of the 2023/2024 academic year of the University of Tartu that takes place in front of the university’s main building.

👩‍🎓 We are welcoming 4,806 new students of whom 2,979 start at the first level of higher education, 1,660 in master’s studies and 167 in doctoral studies.

🗣 “It is a pleasure to note that there was more interest in Estonian-taught curricula than last year. I am particularly happy about the 300 additional students admitted to teacher education curricula and the 40% increase in the number of applicants,” said Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Aune Valk.

The past week Anna Beitane and Stefano Braghiroli travelled to Chisinau to discuss innovative teaching practices and curriculum development in the field of European Studies 🇪🇺 with a great team of lecturers from Universitatea de Stat din Moldova and other Moldovan HEIs 🇲🇩 as part of the project supported by the Estonian Centre for International Development 🇪🇪 They were inspired by their passion and commitment and look forward to meeting them again as the project continues!👏 ̦umesc

📌Looking forward to our first teacher training in Chişinău this August! From Political Science - University of Tartu, Anna Beitane (Manager of Online Learning Projects) and Stefano Braghiroli (Associate Professor of European Studies) will meet a team of educators led by our good colleague Valentina Teosa (Professor of International Relations) from Moldova State University / Universitatea de Stat din Moldova and other HEIs in Moldova 🇲🇩 to increase the centrality of European studies 🇪🇺 in the curricula and teaching practices 🇪🇪

Estonia supports Moldova’s EU integration through strengthening teaching and learning capacities of Moldovan higher education institutions 🇲🇩🤝🇪🇪

With the new Best4ME initiative, ESTDEV is pleased to support the collaboration between the University of Tartu and Moldova State University and enable the exchange of students and teachers between the two universities and countries.

“This cooperation will lay the foundation for a digital transformation of the MSU into a modern educational institution, and introduce digital pedagogy in teaching. When modernising and raising standards in higher education, opportunities lie in internationalisation and learning from the best practices. As we both are small countries, Estonia has a unique understanding of Moldova’s ambition,” explained Kristel Rillo, Programme Manager for Education and Entrepreneurship at ESTDEV.

“Best4ME has the potential to cultivate a genuine positive impact on Moldova’s path to full EU membership,” said Dr. Stefano Braghiroli, Associate Professor of European Studies at the University of Tartu and academic coordinator of the project.

Over the past week, six students from different programmes of Political Science - University of Tartu have joined the study module on "Digital Diplomacy – Puzzles, Challenges and Trends" offered within the framework of the DD-Tech Project 👏 The module was hosted by the University of Bucharest/Universitatea din București and involved 36 students from Romania 🇹🇩, Estonia 🇪🇪, Italy 🇮🇹, Slovenia 🇸🇮, and Turkey 🇹🇷 who participated in an interactive training and got hands-on experience in digital diplomacy 💻🗣️
