تعتبر كلية الطب والجراحة جامعة 6 أكتوبر اول الكليات المصرية الرائدة فى التعليم الخاص و قد صدر القرار الجمهورى رقم 243 بإنشاءها عام 1996 وهي تقع بمدينة 6 أكتوبر بمحافظة الجيزة على امتداد محور 26 يوليو50 كيلو غرب القاهرة.
و تستخدم الكلية منذ البداية أحدث الطرق فى التعليم الطبى لكى تساير المناهج المستحدثة التى ظهرت فى آفاق تدريس العلوم الطبية والتى شهدت كماً كبيراً من التطور والتقدم التكنولوجى
فى جميع التخصصات . وقد تخرجت أول دفعة من كلية الطب عام 2002.
ويقوم بالتدريس بالكلية مجموعة منتقاة من اعضاء هيئة التدريس المشهود لهم بالكفائة العلمية و الخبرة والذين تم اختيارهم من اعرق الجامعات المصرية.
و يتم تدريب الطلاب في مستشفى جامعة 6 أكتوبر داخل الحرم الجامعى و التي اسست لتضاهى أكبر المستشفيات الجامعية والتعليمية العالمية بطاقة (320) سريراً تم تخصيص 20% منها للقسم التعليمي و تتضمن المستشفي مراكز متميزة كمركز غسيل وزرع الكلى وقساطر القلب وعمليات القلب المفتوح ومركز جراحات العظام والمفاصل وغيرها من الاقسام المتخصصة.
وتتطلع جامعة 6 أكتوبر لتحقيق الريادة العالمية كمركز للتعليم الطبي المستمر و للأبحاث العملية و الإكلينيكية. والكلية معتمدة من المجلس الأعلى للجامعات ووزارة التعليم العالى و تسعي للحصول على الإعتماد من الهيئة القومية لضمان الجودة والاعتماد. وقد تم اضافة كلية الطب والجراحة جامعة 6 أكتوبر في السجل العلمي للكليات الطبية بمنظمة الصحة العالمية. و يمكن لخريجي الكلية بعد قضاء سنة الامتياز التسجيل بنقابة الاطباء التى تمنحهم تصريح مزاولة المهنة كما تسمح وزارة الصحة المصرية للخريجين بالتكليف بها والعمل بالمستشفيات التابعة لها كما يمكنهم التقدم للمراكز البحثية المختلفة بجمهورية مصر العربية ويتم المفاضلة بينهم وبين خريجى الجامعات الحكومية فى التعيين حسب المجموع التراكمى للتخرج. October 6 University, Faculty of Medicine, is one of the Egyptian leading private faculties, that has been established at 1996 according to the presidential republican decree No. 242. It is dedicated from the beginning, to offer high-quality medical education to medical students and graduate physicians. Teaching, health care service and scientific experience are offered by excellent well selected medical staff recruited from the most reputable and leading Egyptian Faculties of Medicine. Our students are supported by a well equipped hospital. The hospital facilities are sufficient enough to provide the pre-requisite clinical training essential for the acquisition of clinical skills by medical students and are in continuous contact and collaboration with the famous local and international medical institutes and professional centers. October 6 University is looking forward to achieve the international eminence as an academic institution for continuing medical education, clinical research and practice. Faculty of Medicine succeeded to get the Local and regional accreditation as one of the leading private medical schools. Now, we are on the steps of getting the international accreditation supported by the World Health Organization. WHO confirmed the inclusion of Faculty of Medicine October 6 university in the WHO World Directory of Medical Schools. Now graduates of the college are eligible to apply and sit for PLAB section of the British Council in Cairo and the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom and other professional tests after fulfilling the requirement of the internship year of training. Also, Ministry of Health agreed to accept our graduate for getting the Egyptian fellowship certificates.
