IGSR was established in 1983 with two academic departments: department of Environmental Studies and department of Materials Science. IGSR was expanded to have two other academic departments: department of Biotechnology and department of Information Technology. The philosophy that IGSR was established upon, is the multidisciplinary system. Graduates from undisciplined fields are trained, through graduate studies, to have a multidisciplinary careers.
