Alexandria International Dental Congress (AIDC) is the oldest dental congress in the region. The first AIDC dates back to 1978 when a group of Swiss students came to visit the faculty as part of a student exchange program.

During their visit, the idea of hosting an international conference was born. It first began as a symposium hosted at Elshatby hospital with a turn-out of 150 attendees and 10 companies participating in the event exhibition. The AIDC, now 44 years old, is a hinge event that adds to the dental field in Egypt and the region.

The Faculty of Dentistry, Alexandria University has been hosting this conference biannually since its beginning and its most special feature is that it is organized by the faculty members.

What started as a symposium with 150 participants has now become a major event with more than 3500 attendees, 75 speakers, 30+ workshops. The congress also hosts one of the biggest trade shows of the region: 30+ companies showcase their latest products and newest technologies.
